I'm not sure it's a good idea to just wade in another country's internal politics like that...

IMO, the only things Boris really cared about were promoting bike lanes and helping Ukraine.

This thread is just going to be funny tweets and memes until it’s locked in a few more days, isn't it?

It’s a shame that we’re looking at an inevitable polling bounce for the Tories now that they’ve ousted Truss.

Mind you, I said the same thing when they ousted Johnson.

There's no one in the Tory Party who can close the gap to even 15-20 points in the short term. Once an election is on the horizon then it's another question.

Summer 2022 leadership election: 60 days
Eventual winner's tenure as leader: 50 days

Autumn 2022 leadership election: 4 days
Eventual winner's tenure as leader: Huh  7 hours?

When this trend continues to the point of multiple PMs and leadership elections being superimposed upon the same instant, will Number 10 become a wormhole?

Quantum superposition of Tory leaders (Boris with positive spin and Truss with negative spin, catastrophically negative in fact).

That is the lowest vote share (and people are still double checking) ever recorded for the Conservatives in published General Election opinion polling.

Chris Matheson, Labour MP for the City of Chester has resigned, following the ruling of an ethics committee, recommending he be suspended from the Commons for a month.

Right decision, this is a seat that could be competitive for the Tories (won in 2010) but in the present circumstances should be a landslide hold.

Decent interview with Tortoise Media co-founder, on the problems with the Conservative Party membership, that now includes a tortoise, and several fictious foreign nationals, thanks to their investigation. It sounds quite possible that the party leadership could literally be bought with enough effort.

In retrospect it's notable that his frontbench career came to an end in 2018.
