Well they win a seat, never in plural

In Westminster, that's true. In Edinburgh, alas, they hold the balance of power...

Except, it seems in that case, the Greens might have voted for, and everyone else against.

Update: Greens voted for, a coalition of Conservatives, Lib Dems, and even Labour councillors on the committee voted against.

The NIMBYism and quasi-pastoralism is the point.

that's a very negative interpretation of conservationist interests, it's a regrettable fact that large scale "green energy" projects often destroy nature and farmland so there is a legitimate green vs. green conflict, and that's going to be more of an issue in a small and heavily urbanized country like England than in the US.

"Nature" and "farmland" are categories with very little overlap between them, and what overlap there is is fought all the way by farmers.

It was a pretty silly stunt even then, though.

She’s been diagnosed with cancer:

I’d like to think there might be a little soul-searching from the conspiracists, but that’s probably asking too much.

This will (as grim as it sounds) only add to them if anything.

Oof, that's shocking. Wish her all the best, just like the king.

Damn, cancer is really an effing a-hole. I hope we'll have much more effective treatments available soon. So that at least no diagnosis is a death sentence anymore. At the very least for people under 85.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at how brazenly hypocritical politicians get-
Sunak attacks Starmer for "arrogantly assuming he can just stroll into Number 10"

To be fair, Sunak didn't quite stroll in to Number 10.  He had to lose a leadership election to the Lettuce first, and then he strolled in.

Another Sunday, another Sunday Times Piece about how the Conservatives just need to win over undecided voters and they could be in with a chance.

There was admittedly a piece about Labour and their workers rights plans but I honestly think it’s mad how the coverage now is so different to the coverage of Labour in 2010 when they weren’t even as far behind in the polls!

The correct response to this now is probably "oh, is that all?"

All the Conservatives need to do is increase their vote share from 2019 to have an increased majority: simple

The probability of a Conservative victory is 50%. Either it happens, or it doesn’t.

The probability of me marrying Sydney Sweeney is 50%. Either it happens, or it doesn't.
