As of now, a Biden-Trump rematch is the most likely scenario, but there are still the issues of Biden’s age and Trump being mired in investigations and other controversies. Several events in recent weeks have improved Biden’s chances of re-nomination while harming Trump’s, but neither is a shoe-in, IMO. And I continue to dread the inevitable insanity that will come in 2024 regardless of who the major party nominees are.

Anyone else have similar thoughts?

I think people are way too skeptical on the Dem primary and way too certain on the Republican primary.

Barring a serious health issue, Biden will run for re-election and win the nomination by acclamation. The incumbent president either stepping down or being denied re-nomination hasn't happened since the 1800s, and it isn't happening in 2024.

However, I do think there will be a rigorous Republican primary even if Trump runs. While I do think that Trump will win the nomination fairly easily if a bunch of people run against him, I do think he will be stiffly challenged if it is a 1-on-1 battle.
