So, when Trump supporters freaked out over Biden calling them "semi-fascist," it was because he was insulting their interior design chops?

The thing is, I think there might actually be something to criticize here. There was an obvious implicit "warning" towards Biden's detractors in the setup that I don't know if he personally intended, although someone in his team clearly did. And symbolism is a very real force in politics that should be read in tandem with what is being said by the speaker. But from the team that brought you "Dems think you're a Nazi if you use the OK gesture," it's a little rich to say that red lighting = Hitler.

You know, here in Seattle we had a similar low-angle spooky shot that a lot of people got worked up over:



The thing is, this one worked a lot better because people had already spent the last few years painting poor old Jenny as a fascist authoritarian cop-loving predator hunter-killer psycho bitch.  And the photo played in line with that.

But Republicans and leftists alike spent the last three years painting Biden as an incompetent drooling idiot who can't string two sentences together.  Now he's had probably the most successful six-week span of any president in the last 50 years, and gives a big speech about protecting democracy, and suddenly he's Adolf Hitler?  People aren't gonna buy it.
