If what is being reported is true, and that Trump due to growing legal troubles is now considering delaying any announcement on his 2024 plans until after the midterms, is this development bad news for Democrats? And what can Merrick Garland do to try and Trump make an announcement sooner?
The less that Trump is part of the conversation, that can't be good for Democrats, because it's no longer about Trump, but about Biden and the Democrats again. So if the calculus of Biden and Garland was to use the Mar-A-Lago raid to prompt Trump to announce sooner rather than after 2024 and he doesn't, what do they do then? Obviously someone told Trump that he will be blamed if Democrats do better than expected, and since Trump is all about Trump, he's now probably going to wait. Surely Garland is gonna have to ratchet up the pressure and push him to announce as soon as possible. But if Garland is gonna do something, what does he do?
Apparently our friend's at CNN are worried, because the Mar-A-Lago gambit hasn't yielded the hoped for outcome and judging from the polling in Pennsylvania both Mastriano and Oz are gaining traction over Shapiro and Fetterman, because the story is becoming less about Trump and more about Democrats. Which it should be, by the way. Any comments or ideas are welcome.
