not a Democrat so didnt vote but this if I had to grade on different criteria this is what I would say :

W was better in: Uniting Our Nation during time of Crises , Dealing With Congress and was way better as a person

Trump was better in : Economic Management, and way better Foreign Policy Wise

As a Party Leader I would say its mixed as 1st Term W> Trump but Trump >> 2nd Term W

Jan 6th imo makes Trump worse than W but using normal criteria W was worse without a doubt.

Trump.

Dubya did bad things, but didn't openly attack democracy in a huge and transparent way and shift his party towards doing that, even after he's gone.

(excluding Iraq), the worst things Dubya did would be, like, 528th on the list of bad things Trump has done.

Trump, and I honestly feel like anyone who says Bush at this point is just being a contrarian.

On the whole, Trump. Dubya was the 2nd worst President of the last century after Trump though.

It's Bush.

Trump is pure and utter recency bias, and he was too incompetent to really do that much damage that wasn't already there.

Bush killed a lot more people and for all you all who think Trump destroyed democracy none of this would be happening if it wasn't for Bush v Gore

I won't lie though Bush seems like a nice guy while Trump doesn't

It doesn't matter we are stuck with this right wing CRT for the rest of our lives unless D's get the H and Filibuster proof Senate and Crt pack but since it's a 303 map they are likely to lose the H

I this last "that wasn't already there" part is going to end up doing a lot of work here.

The pre-Trump GOP was a monster but the post-Trump GOP is an existential threat. Trump has singlehandedly weeded out any checks to his (and likely any halfway-decent successor's) power, and he isn't being shy about using it to tear down institutional power that will make 2017 - 2021 seem like a rehearsal dinner.

And this is solely stuff on institutions and principle - haven't even touched corruption or policy yet.

Trump was better on the Middle East and that’s about it.

Bush for the world. Edge to Bush still.

Think it's worth drawing out the difference between Bush/Trump the men and Bush/Trump the administrations.

Bush was a weakling who got dragged into war by ideologues he didn't have the ability to overrule or stand up to. Trump was a mad man who got held back by people (sometimes only barely) less constrained than him.

Imagine Trump's temperament, ignorance, and lack of interest in any serious strategy being uninhibited or actively encouraged in the same way that Bush was.

Agree with the first sentence, but not with the second.

W was better in: Showing Leadership during Crises , Dealing With Congress and was way better as a person

LOL. I agree with the other ones you listed for Dubya, but "leadership during crises?" Seriously? He showed anything but leadership. He gave the reins of power to warmongers like Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz and Donald Rumsfeld.

Agreed with all of these. And it's worth noting that while Iraq was a national disgrace, the killing of civilians in impoverished countries was hardly something new. Clinton did it, too, starving poor children in Iraq and Cuba through the sanctions, bombing civilian locations (such as a hospital in Sudan that served half the country's population) and killing countless civilians in Africa and the Middle East. As far as Iraq goes, terrible and long-lasting though it was (and Abu Ghraib and the prison torture scandal was just absolutely terrible), it still had its upsides (deposing Saddam, first and foremost).

Agreed with this. I honestly think both men were restrained by other forces in the administration from exerting all their powers, but in Trump's case, those 'powers' were sometimes unconstitutional and stopping or restraining him was for the better, whereas with Bush, it was basically other Cabinet members running the White House and Bush just being a puppet (for all the "Brandon is a puppet of the Socialist Democratic agenda" talking points the cons spout), with a detrimental overall effect.

Trump was a worse president and person, but Bush had a far worse presidency, the ramifications of which will be felt for centuries. His incompetence, unlike Trump's, was neither a foregone conclusion nor a natural consequence of centuries of American anti-intellectualism. There was no guarantee that he had to squander the budget surplus, plunge us into two pointless wars, or bring our country to the brink of political and economic ruin. He had every opportunity to succeed, and all he did was wreak havoc and carnage.

Trump is a clown who should be in federal prison. Bush, however, is a malevolent and sadistic war criminal who should be tried before the Hague for crimes against humanity. Sorry, but I can't tell the people of Iraq that the horror they've lived through for the past 20 years somehow pales in comparison to mean tweets and reckless inarticulate bloviating.

Ok let me rephrase this to "Uniting Our Nation during a time of crises"

The ramifications of his presidency has begun to fade so I doubt it will be felt centuries from now
