Every politician says that the majority of the people support them.

That's not really a Twitter thing though, they've always said that.

Right-wing Twitter is more 10x extremist and 10x more dangerous, but at the very least they don’t deny that progressives/liberals are roughly half the population. A lot of left wing twitter sincerely believes that most people secretly share their views deep down, but are just being manipulated by the wealthy. It’s understandable, as implementing their agenda would necessarily require the consent of the masses.

Right-wingers are fully aware what parts of their agenda are unpopular. They don’t care, you’re just going to have to deal with it. A lot of left-twitter remains convinced to this day that defund the police is popular. It’s nuts.

In Brazil, I think it is the center-right.

There are some people in the Twitter, who follow similar people in the Twitter, who believes that there is really a big share of the Brazilian society who think like them and hate both PT and Bolsonaro. During the first semester, some of them still believe that a center-right candidate could poll better than Lula and Bolsonaro when the election gets closer. These people are urban middle/upper income people, educated, but they have a distorted view of the reality because the don't want to see the reality, which is very painfull for them. The reality is: a very small share of the Brazilian society have both PT and Bolsonaro. Many people hate only PT, many people hate only Bolsonaro.

So sort of the NeverTrumpers of Brazil, Lincoln Project or Gottheimer types. Interesting.

It's The Right. That's why they keep coming up with silly terms and stereotypes and sell them and sell them until no one can ignore the narrative.

It's their MO for winning primaries.

I voted Right, but in a weird way both them and the leftist that can't grasp this kind of agree. For example look at all the concern trolling in 2020 about how Biden was going to lose because he wasn't progressive enough, or as noted that they actually believe things like going against "defund the police" or criticizing Maduro or China are actually going to hurt Democratic candidates. Lee Carter is a good example and actually spending too much time on Twitter and focusing on that more than the House of Delegates is arguably what turned him into the irrelevant crank that he is today.

The side I dislike more, of course!

In all seriousness, this is one where the “both sides” refrain is actually accurate.

These are people who lives in Dem enclave areas where you won't so much as meet a Republican, at least not a legit one who supports Trump. There are of course Republicans like that too, but in their case they're still bombarded with the other side's perspective through the media and most pop culture. Doesn't happen with Dems unless they hate watch Fox.

There are a lot of Democrats on Twitter who are similar to this and thus basically assume all Republicans are racist aunt on Facebook stereotypes, see for example those who insisted that Republicans wouldn't vote for Dr. Oz because he's a Muslim or all those "WhAt If iT wAs A mUsLiM pRaYeR?" takes about that Supreme Court case with the football coach even though the evidence is overwhelmingly clear that the conservatives on SCOTUS don't care and even a lot of conservatives commenting didn't either. I actually remember a bunch pulling this card on the case about Maine funding for religious schools and a bunch of conservatives replying to them said about funding for Muslim schools "sure, at least they don't promote woke nonsense like public schools" or the "Chad yes" meme.
