Really looking forward to this. OSR writes beautifully!

I think Hillary will govern more like a Centrist like her husband did from 1995-2000.

With an evenly divided Congress there is not much she can pass which actually will help her during her first Term and makes her less attackable from the left.

True, Republicans might get that Gillibrand Seat back in a Special Election BUT Rep. Mike Castle also vacated his Delaware At-Large House Seat where the Democrats would be favoured in a Special Election.

I hope CoS Terry McAuliffe overrules Howard Dean here.

McAuliffe & Hillary I'd to see summon all Congressional Leaders to the WH and find a compromise.

And if after that Kyl & Senate Republicans still obstruct they then could put them on the spot.

I think CoS McAuliffe was probably the one who pushed for two seperate bills after meeting with Majority Leader Harry Reid, Speaker Pelosi and also the Republican Leadership and Kyl probably made it clear that his Conference wouldn't support Medicare & Medicaid under any circumstances.

I think it is a good idea to do that.

And while Paul Begala is right that Democrats will lose the House in 2010 it is very likely that they keep the Senate due to Republican being overextended from the 2004 Election.

Very smart by President Clinton, Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Boehner. Seems they are working quite well when it comes to the Economy.

I actually think that Senator Barack Obama will forgo a Re-Election Bid in the Senate and run for Governor of Illinois in 2010 instead. Maybe his wife runs for Senate or someone like Rahm Emmanuel.

What a SHOCKER but a pleasant one. I'd be really surprised if Kyl dares to filibuster this pick. He probably won't. Obama will sail through this.

The more interesting question is who gets appointed if Senator Obama gets confirmed. My guess Rod Blagojevich appoints Congressman Bobby L. Rush to the Senate and Senator Obamas Wife Michelle Obama probably runs for Congress then.

Hillary doing everything to ensure Re-Election and keep the Base motivated for the Midterms although that Obama Pick will also draw some widespread support from Independents I presume.

Any Legislative Passing is a Victory for Hillary Clinton given the small margins in Congress.

What are Republicans going to run on in 2010? Just obstructing? That ain't going to fly with the Voters I think.

I think these Health Care Legislations are good for America. Health Care needed to be done is some form here. Particularly Seniors will be happy with this to expand Medicaid & Medicare.

Think about States like Florida or Pennsylvania who have a big Senior Population.

Lmao, the Blago saga still happened. Wonder whether Quinn still holds on in 2010 here.

Justice Obama sounds great, though that probably removes him as presidential contender forever.
All true what you are saying here but I think Madigan has a far, far better chance hanging onto the Seat as if Quinn appointed a Placeholder, which he did in the OTL.

Madigan is favoured no matter whom Republicans run here. She would even beat Kirk handily.

I wonder where President Hillary Clinton is during Election Night 2009? At the WH? In NYC at the Trump/Kennedy Victory Rally?

Democrats should not be too concerned about the close Massachusetts Senate Special Election.
This Race was more about Martha Coakley being a terrible Candidate then the Democratic Party as a whole.

Of Course Bill Bennet will use this Race to make an elephant out of a mouse like he always does and say Democrats are doomed in 2010 and beyond.

OSR,
I like both McCain & Clinton Presidencies. However after 2016 I expect some big U-Turn by both Parties moving into their respective corners.

I doubt the New Electoral Reform will be ratified BUT props to Pelosi, Boehner, Reid and Kyl for at least trying.

OSR,
I wonder if Marco Rubio runs for Governor in 2010 since there is no chance he primaries Senator Jeb Bush.
Maybe he picks someone like Illena Ross-Lehtinen as Running Mate if he wins the GOP Governor Nomination.

Yah he is running and his opponents in the Republican Primary are Rick Scott and Charlie Christ.
Tough Race for Marco! Probably wins the Primary in a squeaker.

I think Crist has a better chance ITTL because he was friends with McCain IRL. Though that might not have been until 2006. Unless he wasn't elected AG in 2006.

I think it's anyone's race, Scott might be at a slight advantage because of his personal wealth, but Rubio's grassroots support, and Crist's "experience" play might all play well.
If Jeb is still popular in Florida that's going to help Rubio. Marco almost certainly has inherited the Jeb Bush Political Operation in FL.

Rubio is going to win the General Election in a Landslide whomever the Democrats will put up with Crist as Running Mate. And my gut feel is that that he is going to run for President down the road.

There could also an interesting Republican Primary for Florida Governor down the Road in 2018 between Crist, Putnam and DeSantis just like this year was.

Sorry Arnold BUT you are not going to win this given that Governor Riordan has put California down the tube for the last 8 years.

And I think Hillary Clinton will be a two-termer Smiley

Bill Clinton lost the Senate too in 1994 and barring a Major Shock Democrats will win Washington State giving them the 50th Vote. Also, I'd rather be Joe Sestak than Pat Toomey in PA meaning D's will have 51 Votes and VP Rockefeller doesn't even have to break Ties.

Hillary doing much better than her Husband!

Looking at these Results while Republicans overperformed at the Gubernatorial Level they definitly underperformed at the House Level. If you told President Clinton, CoS McAuliffe & their Campaign Strategists that Democrats would have over 200 Seats at the end of this Night no matter if it ends up at 204 or 206 they would have taken that.

Also, with the Progressive Wing getting decimated (Russ Feingold) it will allow Hillary to cut more Deals with incoming Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Kyl.

I think Hillary will win Re-Election in 2012 and they real brawl for Democrats and Republicans will be in 2016.

OSR,
President Hillary Clinton kept the losses for her Party in this TL low because she governed as a "Centrist President" unlike Obama in the OTL while President Biden kept his losses 2022 low because Republican Candidates flopped. That is a big Difference.

I think Hillary will get a Mandate in 2012. Sure West Virginia will go Republican BUT with the growing Hispanic Population New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Florida & Virginia could all go Democrat.

Losing the Ohio Governor Race was a very big blow to Republicans as well.

Considering the massive Hispanic Growth in places like Bernalillo County, New Mexico...Jefferson, Araphaoe, Adams Counties in Colorado...Clark County in Nevada, the I4-Corridor in Florida with Counties like Orange & Osceola and Loudoun, Prince William Counties in Virginia this will be a massive Problem for Republicans come 2012 + they do not have a Magic Silver Bullet like George W. Bush who can appeal to Hispanics like they had in 2008. Also there will be no Ralph Nader this time monkiing things up.

The bigger thing though was Newsom & Harris losing the Lt. Governor & Attorney Generals Race.

Those two losses by Democrats are and will have massive consequences for "America's Maverick, Part 2" and potentially for "America's Maverick Part 3".

I would definitly recommend OSR to use FOX NEWS Coverage for all the Major Events from 2017 onwards in "America's Maverick Part 3".

FOX has gotten better as of late while CNN you can throw in the garbarge bin.
