Only the walking taco, which is: 1-not really that weird and 2-not really an Iowa thing at all. For Iowa they should've just used either the loose meat sandwich or Quad Cities pizza (which is delicious by the way.) I guess I've also had a Chuckwagon breakfast because that's just hash browns, bacon and eggs...also not weird. And also a Culver's butter burger, but that's not a real one, which is basically a cheeseburger except with a bunch of butter instead of cheese. I showed this to my parents and they said they've also had boiled peanuts when they had some friends over originally from north Florida...and they raved about how awesome they were but to my parents they were just "peanuts but wet" and thus not particularly impressive.

A "pickle dog" by the way could mean one of two things: first is a pickle spear wrapped in a slice of pastrami with cream cheese over it. It's common at the state fair but basically never eaten at any other time. The second is basically a hot dog stuffed inside a pickle which is then fried into a corndog. These are also basically only eaten at the state fair and not really a Minnesota thing because I hear Disney World serves them too, so I'll assume it's referring to the first. Also lutefisk is not particularly common in North Dakota or Minnesota, and it's not something that you'd just walk into a restaurant and order, you'll only find it at things like rural Lutheran church dinners and potlucks or Scandinavian-American fraternal organization dinners.

1, maybe 2.

I’ve had Jello Salad numerous times. I’ve had gator a few times, but idk if it was the tail.

at least 3, fried squirrel, Provel Cheese and Jello Salad.  I may have had gator and rattlesnake as a child, but I don't remember, so we can't count those.

Sushi and burritos are delicious.

But when combined, it's an absolutely disgusting monstrosity.

What's worse, is that abomination has founds its way to the East Coast.  Before the pandemic in downtown DC, there was always lines up the wazoo at Buredo during lunch hour and I was occasionally dragged there.   *vomits*

How about a "hot beef sundae"?

Never heard of a "koolickle."

This map is all wrong.  Slugburgers are from MS, not TN.

Are they even common in Nebraska? What are they?

Seven:

Pasties
Jell-O Salad (seems too ubiquitous to be a state food)
Butter Burger
Boiled Peanuts
Gator Tail
Creamed Chipped Beef
Scrapple

Pasties are the best of the bunch.

I don't remember hearing of them, and Googling the term shows me pictures of things that look exactly like what you fear a "hot beef sundae" would look like.

I'll say 6.

Most of these are meat, so as a vegetarian, not too many. Had boiled peanuts (GA) many times, sushirrito (CA), Grape Nuts ice cream (NH), peanut soup (VA) once that I can recall, a vegan version of the Garbage Plate (NY) from my favorite restaurant in Rochester (they call it a "compost plate"), and a "walking taco" but in Louisiana rather than Iowa, and I don't recall it being called that in La.

For Missouri, I think the St. Paul sandwich is weirder than Provel cheese. That said, the St. Paul sandwich is one of the great American immigrant inventions, imho.

Jello Salad being the most common

But Scrapple isn't that weird.

I did too and actually it looks like the "ice cream" is actually mashed potatoes. Thus it's kind of clever although still a bit of a novelty food.

Also it appears to be more of an Iowa than a Nebraska thing making you wonder why they had to go with the not Iowan and not really weird walking taco for Iowa.

Scrapple & Creamed Chipped Beef.  I'd try Livermush & Clam Pizza for sure.  The rest is just gross.

1. Peanut Soup. Highly reccomend. I love peanuts in general though.
2. Boiled Peanuts. See above, they are not just wet peanuts, they have a unique flavor that boiling brings out, just don’t expect them to be crunchy.
3. Rattlesnake. It was in a taco so the flavor didn’t taste much different from chicken.
4. Rocky Mountain Fried Oysters. Not even that good. I’m okay with weird food if it actually is good (Chicken Feet comes to mind) but it was just meh. Greasy, not much flavor and very chewy. I would eat it if hungry but I wouldn’t pay for it.
5. Scorpion lollipops. See above honestly. It’s not an issue with eating insects (I once had some good fried mealworms and loved them) but it just adds nothing. It’s just there for the shock value, and the actual scorpion tastes like practically nothing, a bit woody ig iirc.
6. Sushiritto. I can see why some people might like it, but it’s just not my thing. Not bad by any means and if you love sushi it’s worth having fs.
7. Ube. This one is probably the trendiest these days of these all, I’ve had it many times in many ways. Honestly I even had ube pancakes this week lmao. Not so much a dish on its own as a good ingredient.

I am an adventurous eater and love trying new things (except for cow meat…don’t ask it’s a long story) so I would eat most of the things on here tbh.

Chitterlings, they're a traditional part of any Argentinean asado (BBQ)

Butter burger

And pasties are basically identical to our empanadas, we even have that same filling even if it's not all that popular here in Buenos Aires

Boiled peanuts are not "weird".

They are a healthier, cheaper, and tastier alternative to roasted peanuts

I was going to ask what in the world you're eating over there in the US, but then I remembered I had some traditional chicken blood rice just last week... Yeah, you do you.
