IF they have to dip down into 2-loss teams, Tennessee should be in front of LSU and Alabama in line, given their head-to-head wins over both.

Not without Hooker, they shouldn't be. Nor will they be. Hopefully Vanderbilt helps validate that today.

Just like 2014 Ohio State without JT Barrett?

Did 2014 get blown out by a mediocre South Carolina team?

After beating Tennessee, Clemson, and  -- most impressively of all -- Kentucky, can we really still call South Carolina "mediocre?"

They lost at home to a Virginia Tech team that was much worse than 2022 South Carolina, and that was with Barrett.

Illini beats Northwestern 41-3. However, with Purdue's 30-16 win over Indiana, the Boilermakers will clinch the B1G West title. Illini will be in a bowl game.

Illini would have had it if it weren't for the three awful losses in a row (esp. to Purdue).
Still, it was the best Illini season in awhile.

#4 TCU putting on a clinic tonight against Iowa State. The Horned Frogs lead 55-14 with less than ten minutes to go.

I think they've locked up a playoff spot, regardless of what happens in the Big Twelve title game (of course, USC losing over the next two weeks would ice it, but as of right now I think TCU is in, even if they lose to Kansas State/Texas in the Big Twelve Championship Game.)

I cannot believe we are 12-0. It is so out of the blue and I never had any expectations we would be much better than 6-6 or 7-5 tops this season, geez

Great hire by Arizona State. Dillingham is an alumnus of Arizona State, and has previously been an offensive coordinator at Memphis, Auburn and Florida State.

Plus, he's the guy responsible for making Bo Nix a success story this season.

This feels like a good year overall for Atlas's teams; FSU, TCU, Illinois, Mississippi State, and even Vanderbilt (comparatively) are having pretty good years.

He tweets about movies quite a bit

Willie Taggart is out at Florida Atlantic.

Not really sure who the most likely option for FAU going forward is. It isn't the best job in Conference USA now, and they are leaving for the AAC, which will be an even tougher conference for them to be competitive in.

My best guesses for the next head coach at FAU are:

Florida State Linebackers Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator Randy Shannon
UCF Offensive Coordinator Chip Lindsey
Missouri State Head Coach Bobby Petrino
Georgia Safeties Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator Will Muschamp

I forgot to post my favorite college football tweet earlier today, but it is still relevant as there is at least one happy person out there today:

Very very weird that we are in a world where the SEC, ACC, and Big 10 championships are completely irrelevant to the playoff while both the Big 12 and Pac 12 championships are EXTREMELY relevant to the playoff.

So much for Vanderbilt.  Gets crushed tonight by Tennessee in Nashville 56-0.  And the Vols were playing with their backup QB and much of the second string offensive line and defensive backs.

A CFP with Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and USC (looks to be most likely right now) would be the NCAA and television programmer's dream.  Big media markets and huge fan bases as well.

Vanderbilt won their first conference game since 2019 and then won a second conference game against Florida at home for the first time since 1988. This is a good year for them.

Last year when the Cougs won the Apple Cup in Seattle, they planted a WSU flag on the W at the center of Husky Stadium. Now that they have just lost the Apple Cup at home though...

David Shaw resigning as head coach of Stanford.

Stanford is one of the harder jobs in the Power Five to walk into, with their stringent academic requirements, so I'm curious to see who will be hired here.

My best guesses as to who will be the next head coach at Stanford:

Former Florida Head Coach Dan Mullen
Boise State Head Coach Andy Avalos
Fresno State Head Coach Jeff Tedford
West Virginia Offensive Coordinator Graham Harrell
USC Defensive Coordinator Alex Grinch

WEEK 13 RESULTS

We had another rough week overall with a collective record of 124-116.  NY Express and Terry tied for first with 15-9, a game ahead of Illiniwek.  There were only 24 games because Virginia-Virginia Tech was canceled.  Full results:

15 NY Express, Terry
14 Illiniwek
13 Harry
12 GeorgiaModerate
11 Dereich, Donerail, ExtremeR, Grumps, JGibson

There were five unanimous picks:

North Carolina-NC State (wrong)
UCLA-Cal
Florida State-Florida
Alabama-Auburn
LSU-Texas A&M (wrong)

And seven games with a single dissenter.  An asterisk means the dissenter was right:

Ole Miss-Miss. State (*)
Texas-Baylor
Arizona-Ariz. State
Iowa-Nebraska (*)
Ohio State-Michigan (*)
Oklahoma State-West Virginia (*)
Louisiana-Texas State

Overall, Illiniwek has opened up a four-game lead heading into championship week.  Year to date (323 games):

210 Illiniwek
206 GeorgiaModerate
204 Harry
202 Dereich, ExtremeRepublican
200 Terry
198 Donerail
185 Grumps
181 JGibson, NY Express

Stanford is going to hire a west coast guy, likely with some experience with either the school or an institution with similar academic requirements. Like former USC head coach Ed Orgeron, or former Stanford assistant Willie Taggart.

As I see it, Georgia and Michigan are in no matter what happens this weekend.  Then, we have scenarios for the last two spots, based on the Big 12 and Pac-12 games:

TCU and USC both win: Georgia, Michigan, TCU, debate between USC and Ohio State

TCU wins and USC loses: No drama- Georgia, Michigan, TCU, Ohio State

USC wins and TCU loses: Georgia, Michigan, USC, Ohio State

Both lose (chaos scenario): Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, debate between TCU and Alabama

In the first scenario I'm sure USC gets in over Ohio State.
