I fundamentally disagree here as I think DeSantis is actually implementing conservative policies across the board , it’s just that in todays landscape anything a politician will do will “trigger” someone nowadays . There is a reason why much of the old gop guard in Florida including Jeb Bush likes DeSantis a lot while they do not like Trump .

His 'policies' are nothing more than right wing virtue signaling.

DeWine isn't getting this kind of trouble for doing similar things. Likewise with S# oh-nono (NH).

No, DeSantis has the Scott Walker-esque Presidential Ambitions Ueber Alles problem.

Major HP.

I don't even get the hype, which is primarily a media thing. Dude has accomplished little other than triggering Dems. I guess that's why some GOPers like him.

Considering Trump accomplished almost nothing other than triggering Dems, and the GOP literally didn’t even have a platform in 2020 beyond owning the libs, yeah that’d be it.

Say what you will about Reagan or hell even Dubya, but they had actual policies and goals and actually took stands on issues. They weren’t just pure reactionaries whose only ideas were to s—t on the other side’s ideas at every turn no matter what. That is underrated I think as one of the single biggest changes in our politics post-Trump (although it goes back to the Obam-era obstruction by the GOP Congress at least). Politics is no longer a clash of ideologies, where two people with different values and ways of thinking could understandably come to different conclusions. It’s just a shouting/s—t flinging match now. There was always some of that, of course, but now that’s almost the ENTIRETY of our politics.

Policy wise this isn’t true :

- We passed the most sweeping tax reform bill since 1986

- Trump gutted federal agencies regulatory powers with him requiring them to remove 2 regulations every time they implement a new one

- Replaced Dodd Frank

- Replaced NAFTA with USCMA

- Redefined our relationship with China

- Stay in Mexico Policy when it comes to immigration

- Middle Eastern Nation Treaties

Sure most of these were through executive action but that is more due to the senate 60 vote rule

This. Rather than solve FL’s many problems, he aids in exacerbating and creating them.

I mean you can disagree with what policies he is putting place but it is undeniable he has gotten a lot of conservative policy passed in the state and just not on social issues but on economic as well. DeSantis really has done a good job delivering for economic and social conservatives and even on foreign policy conservatives to an extent a governor .

There is a reason why both the Old Guard Republicans most notably Jeb Bush and hardcore Trumpists are a fan of him and that is cause he is actually delivering on conservative policies.

Not really given it cut individual rates by a lesser amount than the Bush tax rates . Also the tax bill had many provisions that benefited average people such as:

- Doubling the Child Tax Credit

- Doubled the Standard Deduction

- Allowing Small Business Owners to deduct up to 20% of their Qualified Business Income . The deduction phases out as well so this mostly helps the middle class across the board

The only part I didnt like was Paul Ryan's Border Adjustment Tax wasnt included in the final bill but otherwise it was a great bill(I agree with the corporate tax cuts as well)

Mesmerizingly awful mega-HP, but still somehow much less bad than his Medicare fraudster predecessor.
