In the midst of this red state-blue state divide, a centrist party emerges, capturing several states. Eventually, no one political party can claim a majority in the electoral college, House, or Senate, so the Centrist party caucuses with the person who fits their platform the best.

I...doubt it, and I even doubt more that they'd win NE-3 or UT.

The problem here is not that there is a third party, but what the position of the third party is.  Claiming "centrism" is so vague that it could be anything.  McCain and Killary are trying to portray themselves as "centrists" though they are anything of the kind.

The map example above is more like a mid-western independent breaking out more than anything.  Possibly an agricultural company CEO or something which draws in the local states any other state which relies to some extent on revenue driven from harvesting natural resources (covering states like Maine and Washington).  Industrial and populous states would remain in the hands of the dinosaur parties.

I made the map based on what states Perot did best in in 1992.

McCain is more centrist than Clinton.

Yet he's not a centrist.

Perot was, uh, not exactly a centrist.

What exactly is a "centrist"? What issues would this "centrist" run on?

It must be the "We will give money to everybody in the states that vote for us" Party.
