Note: I will NOT vote for GWB in November, out of thr question on that count. Smiley

no, while you may be a moderate libertarian-leaning conservative, the GOP is ran by right wing nuts. You don't belong in the party of DeLay, Gingrich and Santorum.

I've had similar results before but its the fundamental commitment to Social Justice and the role of government that leaves me a democrat even if i have more in common with some Republican moderates than many Democratic Liberals, In short I'm in a similar boat to Jo Lieberman or Evan Bayh, I think you proably are to Smiley

If you're basing your choice on on-line tests then the answer is simple Hell no.

Tweed, I hate to tell you this but it isn't smart to base what party you join on on-line tests or to take tehm too seriously.

On the other hand what are your stances on issues?

I was just about to ask if you were switching parties. I saw it mentioned on the registration board and everyone seemed like they were in shock.

As for you switching, you seemed to be a centrist Democrat. Getting ratings like  "Moderate Conservative" makes it seem like you are a Republican and it wouldn't be that big of a switch politically since you're views seem in line with many Republicans.

As for you switching, that's your decision. Think of the platforms of each party. If you find yourself disagreeing with the GOP platform on many major issues, than you shouldn't switch, in my opinion. But this is your decision of course.

Good point. I meant to mention to you if you're basing this on an online - test, you shouldn't switch. If you actually sit down, think about your views, reach the conclusion that you really are a conservative Republican WITHOUT the help of an online test, then you should consider switching.

In that case, give the switching parties idea further thought.

Tweed has been thinking about this for some time as i recall, with the Democratic Party dominated so much by the far left I don't really blame him Sad but I remain steadfastly loyal to Democratic Values and still belive that at least to an extent the party is also loyal to those principles.

All in all, build a government that taxes and spends less, and trades with other countries to keep industries growing and moving.

Social Issues

-Ban on late-term abortion, undecided on Roe v. Wade
-Rethinking Gun Control
-Rethinking Death Penalty
-Rethinking AA
-Rethinking Vouchers

Then give it some thought do what others have said look at the platforms decide what issues are most important to you if the positions you agree with on those issues are found in the GOP's platform and you think its right switch parties. If, however, you have doubts I'd stay Democrat for now.

Tweed,

You seem like the classic model of a ticket-splitter. Vote the candidate not the issues. You think too clearly to get caught voting on a platform only when both parties span a wide range of views.
