Well that's the least painful England exit I've seen in quite a long time. In standard time (unlike against Croatia in 2018 and Italy in 2021) and happened due to pure choking (i.e. a penalty over the bar) rather than a prickish referee or opposing team. Not sure everyone will agree but there we go.

Why didn't England get 3 points for that field goal? Was there a flag on the play?

In only 4 World Cup tournments, a monarchy was champion:
Italy 1934/1938
England 1966
Spain 2010

Now, the remaining monarchy is Morocco

England, Wales, Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Japan, Denmark, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, Qatar are out

Will Southgate have the decency to resign? Or does he stay on, knowing he's unemployable at a decent level and his mates in the FA and media will not criticize him?

More poor game management from him at the crucial moments. Not sure what he was thinking of taking off Saka, who had easily been their best player. Once again, England eliminated by the first strong opposition they faced in the tournament.

47,327,407 people are Argentine, of whom 149,493 are Afro-Argentines, and who knows, maybe the Afro-Argentine community just isn't interested in football.

Maybe they should just stick with domestic issues, instead of meddling and creating fire in every nation in the world and than be surprised, why do far right parties win all of the sudden, and why don't they want to back the American side.

Hmmm.... i wonder.

Maybe we should ask the same question to the Japanese?

Why are there no black Japanese football players.

All this talk about skin colour only increases racism.

It only stimulates racial conflicts
And it makes one more aware of their skin colour secondly

Whatever is happening now is only dividing more since we start to identify with our "skin colour", instead of removing the barrier which I prefer, one where being white or black or hispanic does not matter in determining what your chances are and how you are being seen. that's the world i want to see.

This talk does THE OPPOSITE.

If we talk about LGBTQ rights, we want to get rid of "gender roles" and "gender stereotypes", i do not want more separate identities, diversity and identity politics where your identity determines whether you get a job or not.

Racism has increased in last 10 years.

What I want is people to be accepted the way they are (without people catering or trying to appeal a certain group, identity or demographic).

I don't want

"you're black so you have to act like a black person"-type of society. I want a "you're black, and that should not matter what job or career you should get and what skin colour your girlfriend should have"-type of society.

No discrimination at all.

lol, if you go to the twitter of the author of the article she has retweeted a bunch of people praising her for standing up to the truth and how everyone that commented is either a troll or a hater. This seems like a common woke trope, how can you argue with people like this?

This has the same energy as Americans unironically calling Black British people "African-Americans", and "America is the greatest and oldest nation on earth".

In fairness, I've only ever heard the slightly less dubious claim that America is the oldest democracy on Earth, which is still only true based on a narrow (and biased) definition and ignoring the fact that blacks were considered property and women couldn't vote.

"Sure Argentina beat the team that beat us, but why aren't their fraction of a percent of their people who are black more represented on their team" is some really low energy sh**t.

Why doesn't Brazil have more Japanese players?

Why doesn't Australia have any indigenous players?

It's not their thing.

They also shouldn't act like they're our newspaper. Washington Post and New York Times have nothing to say outside the USA.

Decisions of Belgium are made in Brussels
Decisions of Argentina are made in Buenos Aires
Decisions of Venezuela are made in Caracas
Decisions of Japan are made in Tokyo

or someone elsewhere in their country.

Not in Washington or New York.

Fighting fake news with spreading fake news theirselves, that's what she does. And this is the kind of globalism people (rightfully) hate, at least used in this extent and in this way/context.

Maybe not, but I just don't believe other nations and esp. media of such a nation should debate issues of a foreign nation to this extent. I just don't believe in interfering in a different nation to a large extent, only diplomatic and peaceful ways.

The world needs to thank America for inventing democracy, writing, and electricity, defeating Great Britain, Hitler, and Communism, and being the greatest, oldest, and freest country on earth.

Well, Argentina isn't a 100% white country. And their soccer teams aren't 100% white.

Carlitos Tévez and Di Maria don't look like Danish

Rashford should have been brought on earlier too.

True but it's fair to say that Argentina is more "white" than most if not all other Latam countries. Most of the Argentina team could pass as European - hell, they even have a ginger named MacAllister, who looks as Scottish as his name sounds.

But to your point, yeah, it seems like Argentina's team is just reflective of Argentina's overall demographics. Predominantly European origin with a significant mestizo minority, and not many black people. Although it shouldn't matter whether a team is or isn't reflective of a nation's racial demographics (except for Apartheid South Africa situations I guess, but that's not a thing that happens anymore). That's not the damn point! You pick the best 11 players to take the field. That's it.

I mean if we're talking about racial representation - Black players are significantly overrepresented in just about every European team - France, England, Netherlands, Belgium, you name it. Even looking at the Canada team, you'd be shocked to hear that Black Canadians only represent 4% of the population. But that's not the point, is it? The rest of us are happy just watching our nation play on the world stage, the skin colour of the players doesn't matter. Leave it to the Americans to make everything about race, of course.

The baffling (okay, not so baffling) thing is, the English media seem to still believe the England manager needs to be English, when an English manager hasn't won the English league in 30 years, and the only living English managers to achieve anything on the continent in that time are Steve McClaren and maybe Roy Hodgson, both of whom already had their chance. (Graham Potter arguably did some good things in Sweden, but it was a small club, and there was corruption involved)

And then the first foreign manager on their lips is Pochettino, who has no achievements other than lucking into a final with Bottleham.

Yeah, one of the peculiarities of the Premier League and English being the global language is that non-English managers dominate English football. This is a disadvantage for English managers, but England has a much bigger roster of managers to work with in terms of top-quality coaches who know the English game and know how to work with English players. Should they be interested in the England job (lol), Guardiola or Klopp could be absolute masterminds who bring it home

Look, if you're going to pretend to be a Great Expert on all things football, please at least make sure that you get the basics right: Bobby Robson was famously very successful at club level in Portugal and the Netherlands in the 1990s.
