Politicalmoneyline reports Henry Bonilla has already spent $3.6 million and has  $955,000 COH. Rodriguez has $94,000.  Normally, Bonilla's 48% in the runoff plus a nearly broke opponent would equal victory, but the DCCC has decided to change that equation.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent $895,607  in the last week running TV, radio and newspaper ads. The DCCC has literally taken over the struggling Rodriguez in a desperate last minute attempt to take out the only Mexican-American Republican in Congress.

$619,889 has been spent on TV ads that attack Bonilla's votes against additional funding troops. This air attack with be combined with a late appearance by the very popular 42nd POTUS.

The question is, can the DCCC beat an incumbent with a huge warchest and a weak opponent. The other problem is that Bush is actually quite popular in many border areas. Considering the ineptness of Rodriguez's campaign and the abysmally low Hispanic turnout, I predict Bonilla will win by 53-47, the same margin he had over Henry Cuellar in 2002.

Here's another bad sign for Ciro.

The Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee is running ads attacking Bonilla. I'd actually be tempted to support Bonilla simply because LaRouche opposes him.

Classic logical fallacy, and pretty dumb at that.

I was joking. I'd never support Bonilla because of his positions on Abortion, Stem Cell research, the Environment, the Estate Tax, the War in Iraq and the list goes on. I also don't blame Ciro unless he solicited the help, which I highly doubt he would have done.
