Good. A lot of criticisms of Hollywood are overblown, but their excessive deference toward the Chinese government in the last decade or so has truly been inexcusable.

I just saw it. It might have the flags on his jacket, but there's no identifiable country that's the enemy or anything. Just like the first movie. Good movie, but disappointing no 3D like the first one as it would have been incredible.

I doubt that the movie could have been released in China in the current political environment. Maverick's habit of disobeying his superiors and taking the jets on joyrides just to please his ego would not have chimed well with the current CCP propaganda themes about obeying the Party's commands. Nor, would the line about the enemy having superior jets, but 'murca still winning because of better people, have been politically acceptable.
