Trump drops out; Ed Donnell becomes GOP's presumptive nominee
May 3, 2016

Businessman Donald Trump, the only major challenger to Senator for Virginia Ed Donnell, has dropped out following his loss in Indiana, making Donnell the Republicans' presumptive nominee.

"Unfortunately, there's no way we can win the nomination by now. I am hereby dropping out and endorsing Littl... I mean Ed Donnell, as we need all parts of the Republican Party to work together to beat Crooked Hillary"

Donnell won the Republican nomination due to his use of social media such as YouTube, Reddit, Instagram and podcasts; support from the Republican estabilishment; and his rethoric that adopting Donnell's views on foreign trade, affirmative action and climate change was necessary to reinvigorate the GOP.

Ed Donnell announces the focuses of his Administration
June 8, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee and Senator for Virginia Ed Donnell, 38, has announced his priorities if he's elected President.

Donnell has announced he will replace Obamacare by Donnellcare, a "comprehensive" revamp of the United States' healthcare system; renegotiate unfair trade deals without resorting to tariffs; protect the right to life and the First, Second and Fourth Amendments; reduce taxes for all income brackets; remain in the Paris Agreement while focusing on solar energy and nuclear power to achieve net zero by 2050; provide tax breaks for companies keeping jobs in the country; withdraw United States troops from Afghanistan; provide school vouchers and spend $5 billion in the construction of charter and trade schools; and ratify a Balanced Budget Amendment into the US Constitution.

Ed Donnell announces his possible VP list
June 15, 2016

Ed Donnell, the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party, has announced the list of possible running mates in case he wins the election.

Donnell has said his "possible VPs" include:

• US Senator for Arizona, Jeff Flake
• Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker
• Governor of Oklahoma, Mary Fallin
• Governor of Florida, Rick Scott
• US Senator for Ohio, Rob Portman
• Governor of Maine, Paul LePage

Donnell claims to be "undecided" on which of the six, but says he'll choose the "best" and that party unity will be his priority.

Ed Donnell's campaign announces mobile app
June 24, 2016

Ed Donnell's campaign manager, Andrew Yang, has announced that a mobile application for Donnell's supporters was under development. Titled D16, the app will reportedly allow interactions related to the campaign, and contain minigames, quizzes, the 2016 Republican Party platform, Ed Donnell's wife's apple pie recipe, the schedule of rallies, and the sale of T-Shirts, baseball caps and coffee mugs with the Donnell campaign logo.
The app is set to release on July 16, three days before the Republican National Convention, which will probably be livestreamed in the app.

July 1, 2016
The chair of Ed Donnell's campaign in Iowa has said Donnell chose Mary Fallin, the Governor of Oklahoma as his running mate, attributing this to Donnell's wife Stella. Donnell has not commented on the rumor, although he announced Fallin as a possible vice presidential nominee.

July 3, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee Ed Donnell has denied rumors spread by a statewide campaign chair that he chose the Governor of Oklahoma, Mary Fallin as his running mate. Ed Donnell outlines his 7-point healthcare policy
July 8, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee Ed Donnell has announced his Administration's healthcare policy, consisting of the following 7 points:

1. Repealing the Affordable Care Act.
2. Deregulating insurance markets, so that people get covered across state lines.
3. Providing a refundable $35,000 tax credit to offset the cost of private insurance.
4. Requiring private health insurers to fairly compensate patients injured by medical malpractice.
5. Providing healthcare vouchers for those below the poverty line.
6. Doubling HSA deductibility.
7. Boosting the bargaining power of small employers with insurers.

Experts have reacted in a mixed manner to the plans. Some called them a pragmatic, but potentially effective solution to the healthcare crisis, whereas some accused Donnell of not going far enough.

Ed Donnell announces Scott Walker will be his running mate
July 14, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee Ed Donnell, 38, has announced the choice of Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker as his running mate.

"Walker has served Wisconsin well. He has fought for the right to choose where and when to work, and the estabilishment tried and failed to undermine him with false campaign finance accusations. Walker's increases in funding for Medicaid and transportation are admirable as well."

Walker will probably help Donnell with those who Supported Donald Trump during the primaries, and slightly in the Midwest, although not much due to his opposition to collective bargaining. Walker has yet to accept the offer.

Scott Walker becomes Ed Donnell's running mate
July 16, 2016

The Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, has accepted the request of presumptive Republican nominee Ed Donnell to be the GOP's vice presidential nominee.

The two embraced during a rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin. "Ed Donnell knows what he stands for, works for the average American, and has the experience to lead our country" Walker said. "I am proud to be Donnell's running mate".

Republican National Convention opens: Ed Donnell, others give speeches
July 19, 2016

In the first day of the 2016 Republican National Convention, party figures have given speeches in support of the Donnell/Walker ticket.

Republican nominee Ed Donnell gave a speech where he highlighted his record in the Senate, standing for "American values" while working with the Democrats on "common sense" policies; later, Donnell mentioned his views on taxes, foreign trade, religious freedom, abortion, foreign policy, education and healthcare; ending his speech by contrasting his "firm" positions on various issues with Hillary Clinton's "dangerous flip-flopping". Vice presidential nominee Scott Walker gave a speech calling for Americans to elect the "honest" candidate, with Donald Trump receiving a prime speaking slot, where he said Donnell would "bring the jobs back".

Hillary Clinton confirms John Hickenlooper as his running mate
July 20, 2016

Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has confirmed humors that she chose Governor of Colorado John Hickenlooper as Democrats' vice-presidential candidate. "Hickenlooper has stood for economic justice and personal liberty as Governor of Colorado. He's qualified to succeed me as President"

Hickenlooper is probably meant to hold the Southwest in the Democratic column, as Ed Donnell is a good fit for Nevada and Colorado. He has little appeal to progressives, however.

Donnell holds rally in Detroit; promises fair trade, healthcare reform
July 22, 2016

Republican nominee Ed Donnell has held a rally in Detroit, Michigan. Donnell promised to stand for the "average" American "abandoned" by both parties' estabilishments, while touting his opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership: "Trade deals such as NAFTA are harmful to you and the businesses you work in. As President, I'll work with countries such as Canada, Japan and Mexico to fix these issues, and label China a currency manipulator" Donnell said, later stating "The Soviet healthcare policy of making government bureaucrats decide who gets healthcare, how and when will not work in America. Instead, my Administration provide healthcare vouchers to low-income families, create a $35,000 tax credit and cut red tape for private insurers, among other things. As President, I will make American healthcare world-class".

Democratic National Convention is held: Hillary Clinton, John Hickenlooper give speeches
July 26, 2016

The first day of the 2016 Democratic National Convention has begun, with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton giving a speech where she said Democrats had an "incredible, very diverse" party, promising to "further improve" Obamacare, create thousands of "green, high- paying jobs", and make college "affordable" for the next generation.

Vice presidential nominee John Hickenlooper promised to work with "President" Clinton to make the United States a "better" place for all its citizens.

Ed Donnell attacks Hillary Clinton on emails
July 30, 2016

Republican nominee Ed Donnell has attacked Hillary Clinton on her use of a private email server during a rally in Virginia Beach. "While the Justice Department has decided this isn't illegal, it proves that [Hillary] Clinton puts her interests above these of the American people." Donnell also told the crowd to "remember Benghazi", referring to the 2012 attack on the United States embassy in Benghazi, Libya, which happened when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State.

Hillary Clinton announces her Administration will implement public option
August 2, 2016

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has said that, if elected President, her Administration will introduce a public option into the Affordable Care Act. "I was very sad when the public option was removed from Obamacare. This is something a Hillary Administration will implement, and we'll make sure it is adequately funded and with price controls". Clinton also attacked Ed Donnell's healthcare plan: "In spite of the good intentions, this plan will eliminate Medicaid expansion, which millions of Americans rely on for medical care".

Ed Donnell promises tax cuts, tax credit for new businesses
August 6, 2016

Republican nominee Ed Donnell held a rally today in Morristown, Pennsylvania. Donnell gave a speech where he outlined his Administration's economic strategy. Donnell promised tax cuts for all "hard-working" American families who paid taxes; the creation of a $100,000 tax credit for any American starting a business; favorable tax treatment for companies which avoid outsourcing jobs; a focus on trade schools; a greater focus on programs to help non-white owned businesses; to cut regulations which harm small businesses; and to ratify a Balanced Budget Amendment into the Constitution.

Hillary Clinton reacts to Ed Donnell's economic plan
August 8, 2016

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton reacted to her Republican opponent's economic policies during a rally in Cleveland, Ohio.

Clinton said Donnell's tax cuts would "blow a hole" in the national deficit, which has been reduced by Barack Obama. She also attacked his idea of a balanced budget amendment as harmful to economic growth, and said that Donnell isn't the "21st Century Conservative" he claims to be, but an establishment Republican out of touch with the working class. Clinton promised to raise the minimum wage to $12 per hour; provide a "clawback" which would rescind tax cuts and other benefits for companies which move jobs overseas; leave the Trans-Pacific Partnership; close corporate tax loopholes; and implement free community college.

Republican, Democratic National Committees Air Television Ads
August 10 2016

The presidential campaigns of Ed Donnell (Republican) and Hillary Clinton (Democratic) are airing television ads nationwide.

The Republican advertising talks about Ed Donnell's signature policy, Donnellcare. It consists of malpractice reform, healthcare vouchers, deregulating insurance markets, and a healthcare tax credit, among other things. This ad will likely be more effective in the Rust Belt, where healthcare prices have risen.

The Democrats' ad mentions Hillary Clinton's experience as Secretary of State, Senator and First Lady, later focusing on her policies: a higher minimum wage, fair trade, and closing corporate tax loopholes, contrasting them with Ed Donnell's "inconsistency". This ad is probably going to help in the Midwest due to her economics and the Sun Belt given its focus on Clinton's experience.

Presidential polls show Clinton, Donnell neck and neck
August 12 2016

Zagby has began to poll voters across swing states, and they show no frontrunner. In Michigan, Ed Donnell has 43% of voter intentions to Hillary Clinton's 47%. In Wisconsin, Donnell and Clinton are tied; in Pennsylvania, 46% of the polled chose Donnell, whereas 44% chose Clinton; in Donnell's home state of Virginia, Donnell has 47% of possible voters and Hillary Clinton 43%; in Ohio and Iowa, Donnell leads by 3 percentage points; in Florida, Ed Donnell has 45% of voter intentions to Hillary Clinton's 43%; in Nevada, it's 44% Donnell and 45% Clinton; in North Carolina, there's a clear Donnell lead; in New Hampshire, Donnell has 44% and Clinton 45%.

Ed Donnell outlines enviromental policy
August 16, 2016

Republican nominee Ed Donnell has announced his Administration's approach to climate change during a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire.

"The best way to fight global warming is through the power of American enterprise" Donnell said. "My Administration will provide tax breaks for companies producing electric vehicles, expand the renewable energy tax credit, construct five nuclear power plants, and increase funding for scientific research". In the end, Donnell mentioned his cap and trade bill, signed by Barack Obama in 2013.

Hillary Clinton attacks Ed Donnell on climate change
August 18, 2016

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has attacked Ed Donnell's climate change policy. "His policies are contradictory. Donnell wants to cut taxes and deregulate corporations further, and solve climate change at the same time" she said during a campaign stop in Manassas, VA. "This isn't possible. My Administration will put significant effort into cutting emissions, working with our global partners, and increasing funding for scientific institutions."

Ed Donnell promises to renegotiate NAFTA, TPP
August 20, 2016

Republican nominee Ed Donnell has promised to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) during a rally on Warren, Michigan. "I support free trade, but those deals are harmful to American workers and businesses. It was a careless move from the Obama Administration to open our trade even further, when our jobs keep getting shipped overseas. As President, I will work with Mexico and Canada to fix the issues in NAFTA into another agreement, and make sure TPP has significant changes from its initial version", Donnell told an audience of blue-collar workers.

Polls show Ed Donnell surge
August 22, 2016

Recent polls by Zagby show Republican nominee Ed Donnell going up, and his Democratic counterpart Hillary Clinton falling.

Donnell narrowly leads in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, Florida, his home state of Virginia, Nevada and North Carolina, while comfortably winning
Iowa, Georgia and Arizona.

Hillary Clinton narrowly leads in Colorado, Nevada, Maine and Minnesota, with Michigan remaining a tossup.

"Donnell 2016" mobile app officially released
August 24, 2016

This morning, the presidential campaign of Ed Donnell has released an official mobile app into app stores.

Titled "Donnell 2016", the application is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices, weighing 96 megabytes.

Donnell 2016 (shortened to D2016) has several features:

- An online store allowing for the purchase of T-shirts, coffee mugs, baseball caps, bumper stickers, backpacks, exercise books and posters themed after Donnells campaign;
- A slider allowing users to donate less than $2,000 to the Donnell campaign;
- Mobile phone wallpapers;
- A Facebook-style forum for Donnell supporters to communicate with eachother;
- Several minigames such as quizzes, a simple electoral simulator, and parodies of famous games;
- The apple pie (with cinnamon) recipe of Stella Donnell;
- The scheduling and location of rallies in real time;
- The 2016 Republican platform;
- A biography of Ed Donnell, especially focusing on his war record.

Some of the app's features have been criticized as unpresidential; Nate Silver, for instance, has especially criticized the minigames, taking aim at the "gamification of politics".

However, Republican and independent voters feel differently; Donnell 2016 has already racked up 450,000 downloads.

RNC airs ads attacking Hillary Clinton on Iraq War vote
August 30, 2016

The Republican National Committee is broadcasting two TV ads nationwide, attacking Hillary Clinton for her vote in favor of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, which Donnell has described as "disastrous", in spite of fighting there as an infantryman.

One of the ads shows footage of Clinton's vote on the Authorization of Military Force against Iraq, with a text saying: "Is this the President you want? Ed Donnell will put American interests first, and end this vicious cycle of wars". This is followed by Ed Donnell saying: "In the US Senate, I fought for slowly getting our troops out of Iraq, and opposed the intervention in Libya. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, supported that unilateral invasion and said "we came, we saw, he died" after Libya was destroyed".

Another is more generic, with a war veteran saying: "Thanks to politicians like Hillary Clinton, I have PTSD from my experiences in the Iraq War, which was based on fabricated evidence. Vote for Ed Donnell, or more people will end up like me"

The former ad has been praised, while the latter is being criticized as too dovish and harsh at Clinton.

Hillary Clinton releases education plan
September 5, 2016

Hillary Clinton has just given a major speech in Raleigh, North Carolina about her Administration's education policy.

"My Administration will fight for every American youngster to have an excellent, clean school to attend. We are going to increase pay for teachers substantially, and boost funding for the Department of Education, which Republican administrations have underfunded in favor of the military and corporate welfare. Pell grants and Head Start will be expanded. But our main plan is for free preschool, paid for by taxing outsourcing and billionaires while closing corporate tax loopholes. While this is unconventional, we will not take making trade schools tuition-free off the table"

Ed Donnell has criticized the education plan on Twitter, especially the idea of free preschool.

Ed Donnell promises ban on late-term abortion, mandatory parental notification
September 9, 2016

Today, Ed Donnell has given an impassioned speech in Miami, Florida, about his Administration's abortion policy.

Donnell, a Methodist due to family tradition, has said his Administration will restrict abortion "within the framework" of Roe v Wade, by requiring mandatory parental notification and consent (with a judicial bypass) for minors seeking abortions, and banning abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy, unless the mother's life is at risk. At the same time, the Senator vowed to keep contraception widely available.

"Roe v Wade is an unfair and possibly unconstitutional decision. There's no right to privacy under the constitution, but the Tenth Amendment says every issue not mentioned in the Constitution is a purview of the states. Abortion was irrelevant at the time. Also, most abortions are because two people had sex without responsibility, and do not want to raise children – destroying a human life inside the mother's body. However, my Administration will take action to protect the rights of the unborn within the framework of Roe and Casey. We are going to require mandatory parental notification and consent, with a judicial bypass, for people under 18 seeking abortions, and banning abortion after 24 weeks of pregnancy, except if the mother's life is at risk. But our abortion policy will not be "all stick and no carrot". We are going to keep contraception widely available, so women don't resort to abortion as birth control. A Donnell Administration will fight for all Americans, regardless of size."

Many doctors, and most Democratic politicians, have condemned Donnell's proposal for mandatory parental notification and consent as unnecessary and dangerous.

Ed Donnell gives speech to investors in Manhattan
September 18, 2016

The Republican nominee for President has just met with investors and businessmen in the One World Trade Center, where he gave a speech about his Administration's economic strategy.

"I will be a pro-business President when I'm in office. The Donnell Administration will do its best to truly uplift lower-class Americans, through supporting private charity, keeping taxes low across the board, and facilitating entrepreneurship through a $100,000 tax credit for those starting new businesses – government handouts make the poor stuck in the government. I will not take a decently-sized infrastructure bill to make space better for private enterprise off the table. We are not going to cut subsidies for large businesses, raise taxes on the rich, or expand entitlement programs – although there will be no cuts to Medicare and Social Security in the coming term"

Progressive democrats, and some Republicans who backed Donald Trump in the primaries, have showed disappointment at Donnell's words. Hillary Clinton said during a rally in Madison, WI: "Ed Donnell says he'll be a different type of president, but he will actually double down on the failed tax cuts and trickle down policies of George Bush and the estabilishment Republicans he claimed to oppose. 2008 might happen again under a Donnell Administration"
