I consider Delaware and Maryland to be part of the Northeast, though you might consider it part of the Southeast.

Also, I'm not sure which region DC is in.

West Virginia is NOT the Northeast.

It's The South or Midwest.

So yeah, he did, and if he had flipped ohio, he'd be the only Democrat to win without a single Southern state...just as Bush is the only Republican to win without even one state in The Northeast.

Hard to classify WV but I assure you it is not 'northeastern'. PA, NJ and the states to their north are northeastern. A case might be made for DE. Beyond that, there's no other Northeastern state. WV is most certainly not northeastern.

The Census Bureau lumps West Virginia and DC with the south, and I'm pretty sure pollsters do too. The northeast includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and anything north and east of that.
