Running for office is tough, but any member of the forum running for federal office would be cool, especially Senate! Even though we don't agree on a lot of issues, I think you should. What would you do about your forum trail though? Have you said anything that you would want to keep away from your candidacy?

I don't think I've said anything on here that could destroy any Senatorial ambitions. Smiley

Cool. Smiley

One of the advantages of the Internet is that I avoid the unpleasantries of discussing politics with friends and family; I'd rather they not find out everything I wrote here. But that's just me.

Yeah, the GOP needs more candidates in this state, especially smart ones. Smiley

Do it. You know that you have little shot at winning, but IMO, it'd be a very interesting experience to run against one of the most well-known politicians in  the entire country. Hell, according to SUSA, Kerry even has a negative approval rating. You might have the power to break 40% and maybe win a county or two.

Joel, a quick question: Would you publicly endorse Al Gore for President if he won the Democratic Nomination (and assuming the GOP nominee is someone you dislike)? That actually might be very interesting; it could gain you some attention while positioning yourself as somewhat nonpartisan.

It depends on the Republican nominee.  If the GOP nominated Brownback, Hagel, McCain, Giuliani, or a few others, I'd publicly endorse Gore.

Id love to know what your ideology is, lol.

If you lose, dont sweat it, you would have name recgnition for a lower office!

Perhaps in 2010, you could run for Treasuer, Audtior, or the Governors Council...

James

I posted my ideology about an hour ago. . .

Anyway, if I lose, which is probably, it'll be my only run for office - for fun.

I would delete every post that said anything about endorsing a Democrat or was critical of fellow Republicans you have made on this Forum. Anything that can be used against you will be. Some potential contributors might not like your statement about being unlikely to win, either. Just my 2 cents...

That would definitely give you problems with the NRSC, who might have otherwise decided to throw some real support behind you.  Even that post by itself could be used against you.

And I see you have changed your avatar from independent to Republican. A good move methinks.

Running alongside Opebo might be something you want to delete. Wink

(Just kidding, of course.)

Well, with WalterMitty recently switching from the R-MA to I-MA avatar, and Joel now switching from I-MA to R-MA, things are going to be a little confusing.  Meanwhile, Dave Leip (I-MA) and thefactor (D-MA) are quietly chuckling to themselves and plotting their next evil schemes.  The bastards.

In all honestly, I doubt much of anything from here will be used against Joel.  Certainly if it was going to be a close election I'd say otherwise, but - no offense - I don't think Kerry will feel very threatened by pretty well any candidate coming against him. Tongue

Do it Bro!

C'mon, haven't Kennedy and Kerry embarrassed you guys long enough?

Wink

Seriously, if your family is behind you, go for it.  And damn it man, truly tell it like it is.   When it's bad say so, when it's wrong say so, no b.s.

I'd use the term Straight Talk Express, but it's taken, and not by someone who always talks straight.  Wink  So live it don't just profess to live it.

he claimed that he was a professor at Tufts and also posted contradictory ages at some point; it turned out there was no "Joel Mahoney" among Tufts faculty and he was defrauded (after he announced his Senate campaign to unseat four-term incumbent John Kerry.)  after that he quickly faded.
