The most "moderate" Republican justice was always going to be fetishised by the pundit class and see higher approval ratings with the other side as a result, but there's a bit more to why Democratic voters have such a (relative) fondness for Roberts. He's a master of the meaningless civility politics so many PMC types crave:

He literally said he didn't want to overturn Roe v Casey. This was definitely a weird case because Roberts technically did vote with the majority but that was only for the MS law. What everyone was watching was Roe/Casey. Even if Roe was upheld with Kavanaugh I can guaruntee the pro choice movement wouild have focused on the fact they still "Lost" the case.

A great day for America. The ideal of a government that protects life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness has been further realized.

Wire hangers.

That’s what will happen now in states where abortion is restricted or illegal. You can make it difficult but you will not stop it. Republicans hate women.

Giant middle finger to every Trump supporter. The same to anyone who didn’t vote for Hillary.

You are responsible for this, even if you are pro-choice.

The Supreme Court was one of the best parts of Trump’s legacy

Time will tell if you stick that opinion over the next few decades. I think there's a good chance those 3 will be pretty awful, even from a non-partisan perspective.

This country has regressed significantly in just 6-7 years. F**k the conservative Supreme Court and f**k the Republican Party.

Lol scotus overturned 50 year old precedent and still some of you are in pure denial that same sex privacy, same sex marriage, and contraception rights are threatened.

"Only Thomas had the opinion that Obergefell, Lawrence, and Griswold should be overturned, so that's good news" is the new version of "Roe is settled precedent and it won't be overturned. If you think it will then you're just being a doomer"

They won't.

Because they don't actually care about Pro Life.

Once your child is born; then they will probably have no quality of life at all, and it would be like being dead anyway.

Have we seen America's infant mortality rate Huh?

I, alongside other civilized pro-lifers here, strongly support having universal healthcare, neo-natal healthcare, and other policies that actually help and support families.

I can see this drastically altering the midterms.

There may well be a red wave but it will be extremely blunted now. If we don’t go into recession…if inflation is no longer a big issue…we could actually see a blue wave.

Abortion has sat consistently at 60-40 support throughout the past 30 years, so there was an opening. SSM is now at 70% support and rising every year, when it comes to under 30s support can hit 85-90%.

The idea that the court is immune from public opinion is laughable. SSM isn't going anywhere.

Or worse, inter racial marriage, segregation issues,

basically the entire New Deal/Great Society Consensus is basically threatened.

Uh huh. I'll remind you of this message when Lawrence and Obergefell are repealed.

Well, some Senate republicans did recently come together to do enact some minimum measures on that front too. Overall, I'd call it a good period for consistent pro-lifers.

Never*Trump, ladies and gentlemen.

I think I have always said if Trump behaved better as President, I absolutely would have voted for him in 2020. His polices were not the reason I decided to go with a write in vote in 2020

Well, it sounds good on paper to be pro life.

And it's not just on social issues as well.

The entire New Deal/Great Society Consensus is at stake.

Medicare, Social Security, you name it, you can run the gamut.

American conservativism is not conservative. It's reactionary. To change it up and go back. A true conservative would seek to preserve the status quo.

So this is it. The final decision of an unchecked, illegitimate Court of poorly-disguised political operatives and the legacy of a toothless "opposition" whose ultimate concern is their own careers. We've come to expect this from the GOP - why shouldn't we expect better from a party that cares more about elevating Neera Tanden than it does protecting abortion?

Trump voters: How would you feel if your mother, sister, daughter was forced to carry to term a rapists baby?

If that happens, don’t you dare bat an eye or shed a tear.
