Is there any date set when Manchin will finally decide? I think he wanted to announce by the year's end whether he runs for reelection, as No Labels POTUS candidate or whether he'll just retire from public office.

Kinf of funny he made his announcement just hours after I dropped this post, bumping the thread back up from page 3 of the board.

Anyways, Safe R -> Safe R. Could actually help Mooney, though I still expect Justice to have this quite easily. He'll sweep all counties in the GE for sure.

What's so annoying about this is not that this makes the seat more Safe Republican (it always was), but that Manchin's shtick was basically for nothing. He didn't need to be like Fetterman, he could just have voted like Tester or Kelly and not derail parts of Biden's agenda.

However, as much as I'd like to see a generally more liberal Democratic caucus, his replacement (almost certainly Justice) will definitely be a massive downgrade.

Sabato also changed the WV Senate Race from Lean Republican to Solid Republican.

Republicans are currently at 50 Senate Seats.

Sabato has both, Florida and Texas, as Likely Republican holds.

You know, I'm actually pissed that he's retiring. It means he undermined Biden's agenda for nothing. I would rather see him go down fighting after being such a contrarian.
I mean maybe he just stuck to his beliefs and he's ideologically moderate.

Sticking to your beliefs is only admirable if your beliefs are good.

Manchin's beliefs are good. He is one of the 5 senators right now

Will not be missed. Your turn, Sinema.
She effectively has already retired by choosing to run as an independent

Anyone think this Shrewsbury might just be able to improve on Swearengin's 2020 performance or do we think this is going to be even more of a blowout than that? Could Justice even surpass 90% of the vote in one or more counties?

In a way it's good that Manchin is not running again because he likely would have lost anyway and this frees up money for more winnable races. To a large extent Texas is a better target than West Virginia because of trends and the fact that Cruz is so off putting in personality.

If he wins, he def. won't be able to vote for Cocaine Mitch as his leader if he's running as a Dem:
