That's not gutteral screaming. Nor is there screaming through the whole song. There's even a piano part!

But screaming doesn't render a song non-melodic. Like:

I'm so glad I'm not a part of this world. Just enjoying life here in Normieville.

It's just BRTD, nobody in the metal community actually cares about hardcore and vice versa. It's all in his head as he's a bit embarrassed and has to make it seem like his choice is the only right one while everyone else is out enjoying what they enjoy.
