From personal experience, I began to feel a little bit old when I was 60.  Nothing magic about the number; that was just the year when I started feeling enough physical wear and tear to put some limits on my activities (e.g. I'm no longer up to climbing up on the roof to clear off the leaves).

personal experience is a big factor.someone could feel old at 50 or young at 90. Someone who is 120 could have an 80yo grandchild
Edit:
Once about 20 people vote, the results may reflect the young age of most atlasians.

I'm 36 and I feel like a dinosaur.  It really depends on you.  A 88-year-old can exude youthful energy.  By 88, me personally, I'll be dead.

My wife and I actually had a conversation about this, I think 65 is the age where I consider someone "older" not necessarily even "old"

I feel like at least in my opinion:

18-29 - younger adults
30-44 - i'm not really sure what to call it, i want to say like "peak years" in terms of just like overall
45-64 - middle aged
65 - 79 - older
80+ - elderly (so like actual "old")

i am in my mid-20s though so this might be skewed by my own age and perspective. i know at any rate i've always found it weird when people call 50 or even 60 year olds to be "old" like nah that's pretty solidly middle aged imo.

Good analysis. This comes very close to how I would break it down.

Old is not a fixed age, it is a position in reference to traditional milestones in life--fx, "old to not have yet graduated", "old for being unmarried", etc.

Yeah, I was coming here to say this.  25 is "old" to still be in undergrad, 40 is "old" for a woman to have a baby, etc.

I feel old whenever I meet anyone younger than me, like seriously I hate anyone born after 1995
