Suppose you're riding a mass transit system (let's say the DC Metro), where the mask mandate was lifted via court order.  Most people around you still are wearing their masks.  Do you follow the herd and put on yours just to fit in with the crowd?  Or do you stand out even if it feels uncomfortable knowing you're one of only a few?

Well sometimes? I'm surely doing it more now than I was pre-Delta though (when we all thought COVID was over). With the several new variants (Delta, Omicron, and now BA2), I definitely wear my mask much more.

No. I haven’t been anywhere since the mandate lifted where masking was unanimous or even the majority.

The only place I've worn a mask in about a month is on the bus or a Lyft/Uber ride and now I don't need to wear it even there.

There hasn't been a mask mandate in my state/municipality for quite some time.

I would hypothetically comply with a business requiring me to wear a mask, but I also haven't seen a requirement in a long time.

I did wear it to the doctor's office last week, but 1) that's a doctor's office and 2) the building required it.

Technically yes, as the current mask mandate lift in Spain means that when riding the metro you don't need a mask on the platform but you do need it on the train itself. I wear it on the platform too because not wearing it there feels stupid to me.

Beyond that, no, unless I forget to take my mask off when going off a bus or the metro; or I catch myself putting on a mask when entering a building as a reflex unconscious thing.

In Ukraine now everyone has forgotten about masks and coronavirus in general, we have completely different and much bigger problems, so no

Sometimes but only in Uber or public places. More out of being used to it than anything. Within 6-12 months I’ll probably stop wearing them.

No.

The law has only just changed in Scotland so I can now move about indoors without one. I was always happy to wear them when required but if not required then no, unless I'm meeting someone who asks me to wear one, or if they are at risk.

You thought COVID was ever going to be “over,” rather than pacified into common colds via vaccines (the current state right now)?

Anyway, obviously not.

Really depends. So far, I have only done it in crowded supermarket. Went to the shopping mall yesterday and didn't wear as mask there, neither do I in the office anymore.

While I'm inside some public spaces (like school), yes actually, but I sometimes take it off when I'm trying to talk to someone (because it muffles my voice).

I fully recognize that it has no benefit to me anymore or really anyone around me. I've had two shots, I got the virus twice (most people I know have had the virus at some point), and I don't have any elderly family members living in this country. We pretty much have herd immunity where I live. However, as long as most of my friends and family are wearing masks (inside, in places without mandates), I'll just do that.

Yes, probably

I was at the Mall of America today. Mask wearing is probably down to less than 10% and probably even a majority of Asians were unmasked, previously the most masked demographic.

Interestingly enough the current most masked demographic seems to be teenage girls.

I've continued & will continue to wear them in those locations where doing so continues to remain most sensible, like medical facilities, public transportation networks, etc. At UF in particular, I continued wearing them through my graduation just because a significant number of students in my classes were unvaxxed & of the loud, Floridian Trumpist variety that doesn't believe in the vaccine or putting on a mask except when a senior-citizen professor politely reminds them that they can either put the mask on or get a 0 participation grade at the end of the semester, so I kept them on just to give myself & those who I'm in regular close contact with that extra bit of protection from such loud obnoxiousness, in addition to remaining compliant with individual professor policies in the classrooms. Otherwise, as a double-vaxxed & boosted person, I don't see much of a point, esp. if I'm the only person in a room anyway; the only general exception would be an area of poor ventilation. So far, I haven't tested positive for all of the 2+ years of this pandemic, but that's largely a matter of luck.
