He is not as extreme right as Viktor Orban and has moderated a bit since the invasion of Ukraine, unlike Hungary Poland was able to help with Ukraine/Ukrainian Refugees the most. But otherwise his feuds with the EU related to rule of law, etc, and boring tone just makes him neutral for me.

The Ukraine response has been extremely admirable, but the Polish government is still HP.

Yup, this sums up my thoughts. The Polish govt attempts to establish firm control over public broadcasting and wants to reform the judiciary to get rid of dissenting judges, which I consider an undermining of democracy. HP on balance.

Very bad, but much better than Orban.

His actions with Ukraine have been great, but none of this changes the fact that he's still very much a right-wing borderline authoritarian who's embarked on a crusade against the LGBTQIA population. HP.

It says something about the degree of "gLobAliSm vs PoPulIsM' brain that has wormed its way into the collective consciousness over the last few years that people are surprised that a Polish government is hostile towards Russia.

100% HP. Nearly all of Poland's population is hostile to Russia, the memory of oppression and resistance to Soviet dominion is hard-baked into the Polish national identity, so its hardly surprising that even their right-wing authoritarian-inclined populists cut against the grain of their brethren parties in other countries and took a hard line against Putin's regime while welcoming fleeing Ukrainians with open arms. But this does not make PIS', and by extension Duda's, approach to domestic policy and philosophy of governance any less contemptuous.

I'd like to add that although Duda is an HP on balance, he vetoed the controversial media law last year as well as parts of the justice reform in 2017. So he's somewhat less horrible than the rest of PiS.
