Okay, I have a question about these CNN exit polls.  Am I going insane, or is it the case that, as results come in, they're changing to bring them closer to the expected outcome?  I could swear that Allen's performance among men and women has gone up since the exit poll first went up.

Something weird is going on with these exit polls.  The exact same thing happened in 2004, if I recall correctly.

How is that possible?

91% - 30,000 votes and the Democratic strongholds haven't come in yet?

Talent has a big lead in MO with 27% reported, but there's been absolutely nothing from Kansas City and only 1% from St. Louis yet.

Yeah I don't think this actually looks all that great for Talent - mostly rural counties counted, plus 45% of St. Charles.  He's not even ahead in St. Charles that much.  He needs a huge lead everywhere else to surmount the cities and St.Louis county.

You know what would be great?  If Allen won but then Pederson won to give Democrats the Senate.

...

HAHAHAHA

Okay, back to reality...

The VA race is headed for the courts no matter who gets slightly more votes.

You can't just assume those people would have voted for the Democrat, if there wasn't a Green candidate running. I'm actually betting most of them wouldn't have voted.

Exactly. I voted Pentel (Green) for MN governor. If he wasn't on the ballot, I still wouldn't have voted for Hatch (or Pawlenty).

Voter turnout for the Virginia Senate race, BTW, is at 48.4% -that's pretty damn high.

This argument works sometimes, but rarely and not here. In 2000, if only 10% of Nader voters had shown up to vote for Gore, Gore would have won by over 1500 votes. Here, if only 1/2 of the green votres voted for Webb, he'd have the lead.

Republicans appear to be holding on to most of their 'firewall' states with the exception of Montana -and I am proud to note that of the remaining states, Virginia is apparently their weakest link.

Allen is holding on to a 12,000 vote lead over Webb with nearly 96% precincts reporting.

Allen leads with 49.7%, with Webb trailing narrowly with 49.1%.
