CNN just called New Jersey for Menendez... Huh

Yeah, and abcnews.com has Menendez-winner(huh?) 48% to Kean with 51%, with 7% reporting.

Good job, media.

Whatever, when they called California for Gore, Bush had 60-something percent.

With 61.48 % of the vote counted

G F Allen    Republican   679,127   50.33%
  J H Webb Jr    Democratic   653,942   48.46%
  G G Parker    Independent Green   14,957   1.11%
  Write Ins        1,303   0.10%
View Results by  District   Locality    Total:    1,349,329

Allen's lead is growing...

It's been fluctuating back and forth, actually (it was 3.5% at one point), but I think Allen is probably going to win at this point. Pity.

Well, on the plus side, he'd be a useful whipping post for the Democrats.

If I were a Democrat I wouldn't be giving up hope so quickly on the Virginia race.  Allen's only up a little bit and there might be lots of dem precincts that have yet to be reported.

Has Arlington reported any votes yet? I read that they haven't - if that's true Webb could definitely still win this thing.....

Note that Ford has pulled this to within 6-7 points without even Shelby County (Memphis) reporting yet.  He's still got a shot.

Looks pretty bad there. Racism may have won both TN and VA for the GOP.

40% of Arlingotn has voted - about 25,000 total, Webb winning them by 71%. If this ratio of votes holds true across Arlington, Webb would pick up about 26,000 more votes from Arlington. Not enough to make up the gap on its own.

According to this site, Jim Webb has a 71.4 to 27.4 percent point lead over Allen with 40% precincts reporting (in Arlington County).

Where are you getting this? Where I am looking at results Allen leads by less than 100 votes with 71% reporting.

Allen - 784,355 votes
Webb - 784, 268 votes

71% reporting

What are you talking about?  I am looking at the site right now, and Allen narrowly leads by 1%.
