Go Peltola!!

Today is a bad day for former Governors being in the House (Charlie Crist resigns, and Palin loses…)

Interested to see what happens for the general now! My guess is Palin will stay in the race, but probably comes in third in November now. I think enough voters will switch from Palin to Begich. Then Begich is probably favored to defeat Peltola (unfortunately).

Can yall stop being downers for one second like...

We're Democrats, it's in our nature.

Can't remember who it was, but I remember hearing a joke from some comedian about how Democrats in 1992 were just confused because they were so used to losing

Peltola and Murkowski have a similar coalition.

How do you think would Don Young have voted in this election?
Do you think he is satisfied with his heir?

IIRC he and Palin did not get along at all. Palin always had a rocky relationship with Alaska's congressional delegation.

I hope it doesn't take this long to count the votes in November

No reason to believe it won’t.

Wasn't he moderate, or at least moderate for today's GOP?

One thing to consider. I think the Republicans who voted for Palin are the “true believers”. For people saying a lot of Palin voters might switch to Begich in November in the first round, who’s to say a lot of Begich voters won’t switch to Peltola? Especially since she is now the incumbent and she did get a good chunk of his voters’ second choices.

Many of the “Youngkin was only successful because he didn’t have to win a primary” takes are starting to seem prescient.

When does Palin say it was rigged and that she actually won?

She seems to actually respect Peltola, so maybe she won't? Her ire seems directed more at Begich, and vice-versa. I can see both of them staying again now out of spite and possibly increasing the chances of Peltola pulling off a similar victory in November.  Peltola ought to sit this feud out and let the two fight each other to her benefit. Holding this seat would be huge for Democratic chances to keep the House, which seem to be slightly increasing as we move forwards to November. A lot of work still needs to be done on that front though.

Nothing appears to be changing.

They completely hate each other.  To think almost the entire primary was spent with them attacking each other just to end up with Peltola winning.

I think it's a 100% guarantee Palin stays in the race,  Begich probably about 90%.   And that is awesome for Peltola.

I think the ARS poll showed Begich beating Peltola head to head but I've not seen any numbers as to how Palin voters specifically feel about him, or how they might vote in a second round.

Could be something to watch as they blame one another even more for letting Peltola win.

Do we think Murkowski was Begich>Peltola>Palin? That's my guess at least. Possible she rated Palin second out of partisan loyalty

Perhaps, but I think it’s more likely she voted Begich > Peltola > exhaust. Palin and Murkowski have never gotten along, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Murkowski didn’t rank Palin.
