NY-SEN 2022 (Trump midterm): Andrew Cuomo vs Lee Zeldin

In this universe, Trump wins re-election and has terrible approvals, leading to a likely huge blue wave in the midterms. Schumer announced he will not run for re-election for whatever reason and disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo ekes out a primary win.
Cuomo is tarred from his resignation after numerous scandals and a probable impeachment. During the Senate primary, he remained the frontrunner even after every major democratic figure pressured him to leave the race, mostly due to a split opposition.
Lee Zeldin wins the Republican nomination. Democrats are scared Cuomo could make the seat competitive, but many say the state is too blue (especially in a blue wave) to go red, even in this circumstance.
Who wins? (yes this is reverse MO-SEN 2022)

However, I can easily see Senate Democrats and Senate agreeing to refuse to seat him (Democrats because they don't want him in their caucus, Republicans because it would weaken a likely Democratic majority in 2022, at least until Hochul appoints someone else.)
