In your opinion, what were the similarities and differences between Carter-Reagan voters, Clinton-Bush voters, and Obama-Trump voters?

Or HW-Clinton voters, W-Obama voters, and Trump-Biden voters?

I was really hoping for a conversation on basically why it appears that the same dynamic is being sold for decades. Why did Alabama go Republican when Missouri and Arkansas eventually went Democrat again? Why did Missouri go Republican when Ohio eventually went Democrat again? Why isn't Minnesota or Michigan staying Democratic when Ohio and Iowa are going Republican?

It can't be the same set of voters even though it feels like there are still many Democrats in reddening areas that are stubborn but something happens that makes them finally give in to peer pressure even though they had resisted for decades.
