The 2022 election season will begin! I'm so hyped!
I'm really interested in how powerful anti-establishment forces on the left and right end up being, as it could have huge signs for how primaries such as PA-SEN, OH-SEN and AZ-SEN will go.

I'm sure most people are focused on the congressional and gubernatorial/attorney general primaries, but are there any State Senate/State House primaries which are interesting or we should keep an eye on?

Any polling for the 8th district? That's my district, wanna see how Luttrell and Collins are doing.
There hasn't been any polling done, which honestly surprises me. I hope it's a runoff.

Results should be coming in very soon, as polls have now closed in Texas (- El Paso).

EDIT: Results are starting to come through. O'Rourke leading BIG in Texas counties with over half of the vote in.

Looks like Abbott might break 70%. Not good for Huffines/West or other potential challengers to incumbents.

Monica de la Cruz likely winning without a runoff. Not unexpected.

Cuellar at 54% with 31% reporting

Also multiple incumbent Republican representatives at under 80% despite being uncontroversial and not breaking with Trump at all. Could be bad news for Van Taylor.

Wow:

Collins was endorsed by MTG, so yeah. This is a good thing.
Is that the official final results?

Early vote only.
Is that usually counted earlier or later?

Van Taylor under 50% so far. The scandal might have cost him a runoff-less victory.

Are early votes counted first or last? Because if early votes are counted first, Van Taylor is essentially guaranteed to be put in a runoff and probably Luttrell too. If not, they've won.

Van Taylor proceeding to a runoff is REALLY bad news for impeachment Rs.
While Luttrell won over Collins, neither of them were critical of Trump or spoke out against the 2020 fraud claims.
Van Taylor's main criticism against him was voting for the bipartisan Jan 6 commission and voting to certify. If that can get someone in a runoff, I don't see any hope of Republicans who voted for impeachment making it out.

Honestly, Van Taylor seems VERY likely to get into a runoff right now. Most of the early vote which would favor him has already come in, and the areas which he's doing poorly in (Hunt County, which was put into his district in redistricting) have way less votes in than the areas he's doing well in. And that's with him only being at 51% right now.

As TX-08 has 92% of the vote in with Luttrell at 54% according to DDHQ, I think its safe to say he's avoided a runoff.

Based on what I can see from DDHQ, it actually seems like Taylor will probably avoid a runoff by the skin of his teeth. They have 86% reporting.
86% reporting with Van Taylor at 51% and his % going down every time its updated... idk will be close either way

Cuellar is down by 4 with 44.5% in. This will likely be close, but I expect that he loses to Jessica Cisneros
Idk, there's a lot of counties favorable to Cuellar which have barely reported yet. I think he might end up winning without a runoff sadly.

With >99% in, Morgan Luttrell has won in TX-08 without a runoff.
There was literally no polling done so no one really knew where this race was at, but it is notable he won against a MTG/Cruz backed far-right winger.

DDHQ is showing much more reporting than other sites. Is DDHQ just that much ahead of everyone or do they estimate less outstanding votes than others?

EDIT: Was there an error with DDHQ? A lot of races just changed to show less reporting. E.g. TX-08 was at >99% reporting but now it's at 90% reporting.

TX-03 % of reporting in DDHQ was 97%, then down to 90%, and now 87%.

Don’t think Taylor is out of the woods yet.
I think he's favored right now, but for him to lose means he needs to lose the remaining ballots by about a 5-4 ratio. Possible, but I'm not exactly sure where these ballots are coming from so I don't know which way they're likely to lean.
Either way imo Van Taylor doing so poorly is a really bad sign for other incumbents who don't subscribe to Trump's election fraud stuff.

It's worth noting that if Van Taylor gets dragged into a runoff, he's guaranteed to lose.
He got less than 50% of the vote now with only his vote to certify and create a Jan 6 commission being points against him (which won't be going away), but if he's in a runoff he'll have to deal with Trump likely endorsing his challenger and the scandal that broke yesterday about his affair with a literal ISIS bride.

What happened with Taylor? It can't just be his votes to certify the election/establish a commission because Tony Gonzales voted the exact same way on both things and he's totally fine.
I honestly don't know why. The most outspokenly anti-Trump/moderate Republican representative in Texas is Crenshaw and his challenger didn't even break 20%.
