President Biden has a 40% approval rating on Election Day 2022. Incumbent two-term Sen. Alexi Giannoulias has a 34% approval rating. Rightwinger Darren Bailey runs for Senate instead of the governorship and anti-Trump Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger leaves the Republican Party to run as an Independent; he says he would caucus with either Republicans or Democrats in 2023..
