This is a nice question I think to look into the future. I think the next Republican president (Trump or DeSantis as of now) between now and 2050 because I see the conservatism of the GOP dying out especially with millennials and Gen Z voting patterns. Progressive would have to be determined by how the Democratic Party moves between now and then.

Do we even know who will likely run in 2048 yet? By then, the youngest person who can run is currently 8 years old, and people who will be in their fifties and sixties by then are in their twenties and thirties right now.

Needed to fill that itch to be annoyingly pedantic I always get.

It doesn't even matter because the Senate map favors D's and the House favors Rs there's gonna be Divided Govt, Prez aren't Kings they have to work with Congress that's what the Framers wanted when we got rid of the British crown in our Independence and after Queen Victoria, Britian got rid of the crown she, Elizabeth is a figure head

It's gonna be Eric Adams or Harris for D's in 2028 and Trump won't be reelected in 24, users think Prez are KINGS THERE ARENT

At a certain point, you think that a new party would take over from the Democrats.

Joe Biden the most liberal by 2050? Doubtful. He won't be the last Democrat in the Oval Office before the middle of the century, and it's more than plausible the next Democratic president will be more progressive.

For both the answer is obviously someone we haven't heard of. These sort of questions that far out are always stupid.

Depends on how you define the terms. Some consider alt right nutters like Trump conservative and others say you need a Goldwater type. For progressives it seems more of an agreement that its the AoS/Sanders type. Seems to me though that there isnt much of a shift over the years with economic issues, heck the parties were more "progressive" on economic issues in the 80s (D) and 70s (R) than now. Social issues have shifted a ton. I think we will probably just keep electing more extremist corporatist wokel Ds and corporatist alt right nutter Rs. So expect more Biden and Trump clones. But I am a pessimist when it comes to politics so lets hope Im wrong.

Maybe a resurgent PRC and Russia and global warming be like the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs in that it my damage the system enough to allow for more alternatives.

If a Republican wins in 2024, that will be the most conservative one. The most progressive one will probably be the latest one by 2050 with crises like climate change requiring major systemic change.

Yes. I am announcing my candidacy for president in the 2048 election, right here and now, on the Talk Elections secular blog. I will be 58 that year, lines up with my plans perfectly. And just in time for the 100 year anniversary of Truman/Barkley’s epic win.

It’s happening, folks! Believe me!

How is that the Rs are gonna keep the Filibuster and the Rs aren't gonna have 60 Seats, they only have MT, OH, WVA, AZ and WI as pickups and Manchin is leading

They're not gonna lower the Corp taxes less than 20 percent even Romney, Collins and Murkowski arent gonna go for that

No idea for Conservative, but there's a good chance it really is Biden for Progressive.

Politics just keep drifting farther and farther right, largely ignoring the moderate to even left public opinion.
