I’m not that familiar on Nicolai Bukharin to make a joke here.

On this question, my posting history speaks for itself.

On this question, my posting history speaks for itself.

I was thinking when I read this title that this unironically describes you.

I loved Neapolitan Ice Cream as a kid and it felt like a natural progression.

"Liberal conservatism" properly refers to my ideology specifically. Everybody else is misusing the term.

Unlike OP I have never read Kołakowski, but like Nathan I think my posting history speaks for itself.

I haven't read a ton of Kolakowski either, although of course I know who he was.

I'm more reluctant to cosign "left-anticommunist" sentiment tout court than Al is, not because I'm actually sympathetic to muh actually-existing socialism but because I'm extremely careful to avoid anything smacking of Black Book of Communism "DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR VICTIMS OF STALINISM and nazism" red-brown-equivalency historiography, for reasons that should be pretty obvious given my personal and family history. I also have some fondness for semi-ironic invocations of Soviet aesthetics, both stuff like this and the kind of "OLD BIG MASSIVE WEIGHTED WOODEN CHESSMEN 1960S USSR" listings you sometimes see on Etsy. However, as with the aesthetic fondness for Ancien Regime France or Golden Age Spain or whatever that some people on the right have, I'm well aware that if one allows this to influence one's objective understanding of the society in question, one is already headed down a bad path.

What am I then, a conservative liberal? Hm. Maybe.

In any case, in response to OP's question, it's because it's the only ideology that still has any hope of saving Mankind.

Personally, I'm more reluctant to cosign "left-anticommunist" sentiment because I am Italian. I know both of you understand this well enough.

This has almost nothing to do with this thread, but this section of your post made me want to own up to it: when I complained of my religious identity being commodified in the "why are you a leftist" thread, I was speaking mostly to the experience of browsing for jewelry on Etsy and experiencing extreme revulsion and regret when I looked more closely at something I thought was cute to find that it was opportunistically tagged with some sort of word salad containing words like "pagan", "occult", "witchy" (vomits a little in the back of my mouth), or similar terms being applied solely to play with The Algorithm for extra clicks or for those cynical people who identify with the aesthetics of people like me but either don't practice any faith or do so in the most performative, influencer-y way possible, like the one Wiccan I know from school.
