Clinton's election wouldn't prevent the Weinstein scandal and all the other dominos that tipped over, before anyone tries to claim that. She would probably offer limited moral support at first and quietly retire the First Gentleman from public life, then go on the offense if progressives or opportunistic conservatives made Bill a big enough issue. The extent to which the Bill issue drives a wedge between Democrats, and how well the party is able to co-opt #MeToo, is less clear, but the country is too preoccupied in 2020 to decide the election based solely on it. I think the disillusionment it creates ends up being a small contributing factor to a Clinton loss.
Definitely. Would Bernie run again in 2020 in this universe? I definitely can imagine the left wing of the party hating her for obvious reasons. Bill’s presidency would look worse in hindsight in this universe too.
Possibly, but I think someone like Gillibrand, given her statements on Bill Clinton IRL, would have a better chance of getting traction against Hillary, and if she plays her cards right might be able to either force her out of the race or successfully beat her in the primaries.
