Harrison had the best solo career, which demonstrates he's the best individually-- plus his songs were often overlooked or vetoed. The Lennon/McCartney songwriting team probably has an edge over him nonetheless, though.

I used to be a huge Lennon fan, and I still think he was a great musician, but he's no idol the older I've gotten and the more I've learned. The other three are underrated.

I was never fond of Paul McCartney until the 2nd half of my existence on this planet.

Now I realise he is possibly the greatest song writer of all time.

Definitely George.

Because he went balls-deep into that Indian stuff.

Hard to pick favorites if I’m only looking at the Beatles’ discography.

For all of the crap that he put out with Yoko, I think that Lennon has the most songs that I like from him as a solo artist/not with the Beatles. Can’t say I’ve heard that much of Ringo’s (aside from Photograph) discography. I do like how Harrison was one of the Traveling Wilburys though. McCartney’s stuff isn’t bad, but it’s a bit more on the pop side than I generally like (not that I don’t like some of the Beatles more pop influenced songs).

Lennon easily had the best solo career and I like disproportionately more of his Beatles songs over McCartney’s.

George is massively overrated frankly. I find his Indian sitar songs mostly boring and pretentious, I think his voice was fairly weak, and even his best songs aren’t as good as most Lennon-McCartney songs.

Ringo… Well he’s a nice guy.

Out of the Beatle's discography, I tend to prefer Lennon songs. George Harrison is the only one with a good solo career though

Hard to say.  Lennon was deified after his untimely assassination in 1980 but as he approaches 80, McCartney is rapidly becoming the beloved figure and top level artist that he deserves to be.

All four of them had excellent solo records and were major artists through the 1970s.  Instant Karma is simply outstanding and is my favorite solo record.  And my favorite solo albums are Band on the Run and All Things Must Pass (if you take out the Apple Jam record).

Some interesting items about their chart action

--All four of them were in the Top 40 for several weeks in 1974 and 1975
--In 1973, the Beatles 1967-1970 hit #1, then topped by Paul's Red Rose Speedway, and then topped by George's Living in the Material World
--All of them had at least multiple #1 singles and had multiple #1 albums except for Ringo (he got to #2 in Billboard but did reach #1 in Cashbox).  The only other act that approaches them is Genesis (with Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Peter Gabriel
--Paul McCartney has had the longest span between #1 albums (54 years and 7 months) if you include him as a Beatle/solo artist

John was the best songwriter and had the most interesting voice.

All Things Must Pass is so good because George had been limited to a song or two an album during the Beatles years so he had a huge backlog of songs. Imagine how good of an album John or Paul could have whipped out if they had all their Beatles songs minus 1 or 2 per album.
