Just voted in soggy Sydney Park. A 45 minute wait in the queue. Seems like the booth might have been suffering covid-related staff shortages.

Was torn on which way to vote for the first time. As a leftist my policy has always been to vote for the most left-wing option, which in my previous electorates (Cook & Hughes) has made me a Greens voter every time. This time in Sydney there were a few options, including Plibersek who's probably one of the most progressive voices in the Labor Party.

Ultimately I went:

1. Socialist Alliance
2. Greens
3. Labor
4. Liberal
5. Palmer Vanity Project
6. Australian Citizens Party
7. One Nation

So apparently the Liberals think the 2PP is 53-47 their way.....

Although if the Libs thought they would win I don't think they'd be doing the whole "boat intercepted" story.....

Is it a sign of desperation that the Liberals have wheeled out John Howard so much?

It might be, right? But I suspect the single biggest reason is that John Howard is more popular than Scott Morrison.

That'd be a polling error so large it'd eclipse 2019 by some margin.

Fair, but after the last few Australian elections, I don't discount the likelihood that enough of the Australian people would say that they care about the environment or hospital funding or whatever if a microphone were stuck in their face, only to then just vote with greed or hate in the privacy of their little cardboard cubicle with the stubby little pencil that they wield.

Pig the dugong says there won't be enough of them to give the Coalition a majority again

No they do this literally every election for some reason. Maybe it's Janette trying to get him out of the house?

inb4 it's revealed to be the dirtiest trick played in Australian politics since the Tampa affair:

I have noticed a correlation between where they send him and places that they end up losing.

Fancy a Sri Lanka boatload of refugees rocking up on the Western Australian coastline on Labor's first day in office.

The audacity.

Clearly they didn't read the news that every single refugee in detention was put there by Labor.

Operation sovereign borders will continue under Labor. They know it's an effective deterrent.

ABC's election results page is also quite essential, although it doesn't seem to be up yet.

Some unsurprisingly eccentric results on the early figures. Most notable might be Whitlam, which has the Liberals on 64.2% 2PP on 0.1%.

Although also huge swings to the Liberals in Braddon, Blair and Banks...

Starting to look pretty bad in other areas, too.  Looks good for ALP in Bennelong, though,.

Party popular vote percentages overall with almost 5% in are 38 Coalition, 28 Labor, 11 Green, 7 One Nation, 5 UAP and 12 others. Obviously there is some country bias, but the percentages for the parties besides the two majors aren't that out of line with the polls. Which is perhaps concerning for the ALP.

Who called this seat? Can't imagine this seat would be called with only 25% of the vote reporting.

The ABC's website, though they retracted it now. Similarly, they called Dickson as a flip a little bit back, but after seeing this call retracted, I'd wait a bit before taking that call as final.

Can't be ABC, Anothony Greeen just said it's still not called.
