You know, I know he warned us nine months ago, but this still took me by surprise.

Quote
After he died, his nurse, Mary Beth, left me a message saying how much he loved me. She said I was the one person he needed more than anyone else in his life. I don’t want to die, but I may die this year because of Jim. I’m always with him and he’s right here with me now. I’ve always been with Jim and Jim has always been with me.

We belonged heart and soul to each other. We didn’t know each other. We were each other.
It wasn't 2021 that he died, but he did die within a year of Jim.

RIP.  He was one of my favorite rock artists.

He was on VH1's "Storyteller" years ago and told a great story about the creation of "Paradise by the Dashboard Light".  The original version was 27 minutes long, and when Meat and Jim Steinman played it for Todd Rundgren (who produced the album), Todd said "You guys are insane."  He worked with them to cut it down to the 8.5-minute released version, and Meat said "You've destroyed our song."  Todd replied "8 and half minutes, and I've destroyed the song?  You guys are still insane."

Meat and Jim may have been insane, but Todd is a coward for not putting the 27-minute version onto the album anyway. For God's sake, the man was willing to put a 35-minute instrumental piece on Initiation, and he couldn't handle the idea of a 27-minute Paradise?

I think Badg has earned the screen name Grumps, so I might just give it up and let him have it from now on.  Wink

Perfect. That scene was how I was first introduced to Meat Loaf as a college freshman. There was no audience participation then, since RHPS was in first run.

I didn't realize for quite some time that that was him in Fight Club.
