Despite Democrats holding the legislature from 96-02 , I will say it was 2018 due to Democrats doing better in state wide races .


Of Course they both also represented almost opposite points in the Texas Democrats trajectory. In 1996 Texas Democrats were collapsing in swift and unprecedent ways and it was basically the last election before the state party died. On the other hand 2018 was in many ways the rebirth of the Texas Democratic party which is another reason why id go with 2018
