Democratic Party:

Generally socially liberal. Supports stronger anti-discrimination laws, affirmative action, and is overall quite pro-choice (although again, abortion is less polarizing). Against the death penalty, but by no means liberal on criminal justice issues; supports greater funding for police and the FBI and tougher enforcement of smaller/misdemeanor crimes. Supportive of soft drug and sex work decriminalization however, with a tough crackdown on dealers and pimps instead. Supports gun control including a ban and buyback on assault weapons. Pro-immigration and supports greater incentives for skilled immigration as well as general amnesty for undocumented immigrants.

Highly internationalist. Supports a beefed-up military budget, greater cooperation with foreign allies, and an eventual customs union between the North American countries. Wants to expand the security state, including increased surveillance of domestic terrorist operations. Interventionist when it comes to foreign conflicts, leaving all options on the table when it comes to dealing with foreign enemy countries and organizations. Very much in favor of free trade and supports utilizing both foreign and domestic energy sources. Supports a phase-out of fossil fuels in favor of renewable and nuclear energy.

On the fiscal side, supports a strong welfare state with generous benefits for most Americans. Backs single-payer universal healthcare, universal free public education from the preschool to college level, and more funding for infrastructure projects at home, especially high-speed rail and public transportation. Strongly supportive of unions and protections for workers, but doesn't go so far as to criticize capitalism itself, backing higher taxes for the wealthy while emphasizing the benefits corporations provide on Americans; opposes breaking up monopolies. Heavily supportive of investment in high tech including virtual reality and the metaverse, AI, self-driving cars, and "smart" homes and cities.

Republican Party:

On social issues, fairly ambivalent. Overall anti-abortion but the issue is less prevalent. Leans conservative on the culture war issues of the day, but also is more libertarian when it comes to attitudes of the government imposing moral standards on the population. Backs drug decriminalization and supports heavy police and prison reform and reducing sentences for the majority of crimes, but backs the death penalty for certain murder cases. Pro gun. Backs reduced immigration.

Very isolationist. Supports withdrawing the US from the UN and NATO, closing almost all foreign military bases, and defunding the Department of Defense. Wants to drastically cut the current national security apparatus, combine the FBI/CIA/NSA/etc into an all-encompassing but very limited security force. Supports using only domestic energy sources, including nuclear and fossil fuels. Protectionist when it comes to trade and supports relying on foreign trade as little as possible.

Fiscally conservative overall but skeptical of big corporations and most mass media. Backs lower taxes across the board and more tax credits. Supports school vouchers. On healthcare, supports universal coverage but in a mixed public-private model. Very supportive of trust busting, more regulation on Wall Street and stock trades, minimum wage laws, and wage caps on CEOs of companies above a certain size. Ambivalent on unions but against most public sector unions. Skeptical of technological advancement; opposes government funding for space travel, high-speed rail, self-driving cars, and investment in AI.

So which one gets your vote?

Your hypothetical Republicans share a whole heck of a lot of opinions with me. I love it.

Dems but this is a situation where I don't think I'd be sad about either side winning since I share at least a decent number of positions with each

The Democratic Party, naturally.  Their positions described in the OP's post very closely mirror my own.

Republican party sounds pretty similar to my personal views, except I oppose the death penalty.

Republicans are significantly better overall, although I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the degree of isolationism and protectionism the party supports.

This pretty much seems like where we're headed in the future. While my biggest beef with the populist/nationalist Republicans continues to be immigration (particularly the immigration moratorium types) and I don't like all the economic stuff there, they're undoubtedly the lesser evil from my perspective, particularly due to the much improved over the status quo foreign policy + drug and domestic social issue policies. Even if the party evolved into that, I still wouldn't call myself a Republican.

Lean republican, although their stance on energy / climate change is sort of a dealbreaker, but I can't see myself supporting the Democrats either. I get black mirror vibes from them.

Abstain / third party probably in the end.

I would lean toward backing the Democrats, but I wouldn't feel bad when Republicans won. If the Democratic candidate were staunchly interventionist on foreign policy and very supportive of automation and Big Tech, I would probably vote for the Republican.

I feel like it would depend heavily on the candidate/election. A Democrat who stressed foreign policy would probably get my vote in races for federal offices, but I would probably be Republican at the state level most of the time and would occasionally vote Republican for federal offices if I liked the candidate enough.
