On Jan 1 I was in 12 counties in three states, 8 for the first time. My signature and link can provide more detail.
On Jan 2 I was in 10 additional counties, all for the first time.
On Jan 3 I was in 17 additional counties, 16 for the first time.
On Jan 4 I was in 17 additional counties adding a fourth state, 13 counties for the first time.
On Jan 5 I was in 24 additional counties adding two more states, 13 counties for the first time.
On Jan 6 I was in 18 additional counties adding one more state, none for the first time.

After the return path of my holiday road trip I have been in 98 counties, 60 for the first time.

Red and magenta are counties first visited in 2022. Blue and green are counties visited in a prior year as well as 2022. Red and blue counties were slept in overnight during 2022.

Not a bad place if you only get one county. I'm more of a fan of Summit during the summer, though. Skiing/snowboarding isn't my thing.

I've uploaded my base map to the gallery. I found the underlying gif map decades ago, but that one had a number of errors that I've corrected as I found them. I've also edited it to be consistent with the recent changes to AK census areas. It does not show all the independent cities in VA. Let me know if you see any errors and I'll correct them.

(According to health authorities, Neukölln is currently the county or county-equivalent territory in Germany with the second-highest seven-day incidence nationwide: 1,041 per 100,000 inhabitants. If I don't have COVID now I'm never going to get it. Tongue )

Placer, CA (Jan 1)
Washoe, NV (Jan 1)
Carson, NV (Jan 10)
Douglas, NV (Jan 10)

I expect to add Nevada, CA soon and Sierra, CA fairly soon (I-80 to Reno crosses through it for a couple miles). It's possible I'll end up in El Dorado, CA at some point but there's nothing in particular taking me that way. That'll probably be it for awhile. Gas is too expensive right now for road tripping and Placer County extends something like 100 miles westward.

Municipalities of the Canary Islands
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Districts of Madrid city
Tetuán
Chamartín
Centro
Moncloa-Aravaca
Retiro
Latina
Carabanchel
Villa de Vallecas
Puente de Vallecas

Arganzuela

Spoiler alert! Click Show to show the content.

Surprisingly, in just a couple of weeks I've already visited half of Madrid's districts! And it is very likely I will end up visiting Salamanca district relatively soon. Though to be fair the remaining districts are going to be much tougher to tick out of the list unless I make a deliberate effort to do so.

The Canary Islands map should have a drive-through for Telde as I had to go to the airport, but I am excluding trips to and from the airport for this. I do expect to tick off more municipalities when I get back home though. (as a bonus, if I did districts of my home town; I'd have ticked off 3/5 districts, with District 3 (Puerto-Canteras) and District 4 (Ciudad Alta) being the ones left out).
