Option 2. I wish New Year's Eve shows were more common but venues usually just throw some themed party with DJs instead of bands and with an outrageous cover charge.

I'm going to Minneapolis. Maybe we'll be at the same place.

Poor Lord Thomas having to slum it in an 800 sq ft apartment!

I used to literally live a block from the Waldorf, lol.

My plans WERE to go to a great little Italian place (Ricardo Trattoria, highly recommend for my Chicago crew) in Lincoln Park and then get drinks at the little bar inside the Waldorf Astoria after.  Possibly then to meet up with my friend who's a regular at a bar in River West so we have a guaranteed spot always.

Alas ... I have COVID, lol.  So, I have been in my 800-square-foot apartment for four days now. :/

I love that restaurant!  In  return, i reccomend you try Sapori Trattoria - also in LP.

Campagnola in Evanston once you've graduated to the North Shore. Wink
