Has Saudi Arabia had a positive impact on the Islamic world?

What's the point of this thread? Would you expect anyone on this site to be a Saudi defender?

I'd expect a handful to say the Saudis are a necessary evil or a net positive on a account of a hackish "MUH AMERICAN ALLIES" principle. A majority of posters still believe the American exceptionalist idea that US foreign policy is a unique force for good and a buffer against tyranny, despite being willing to denounce the Saudis, who are far, far away from being the only tyrants allied with the US.
