My first marriage lasted 6 months.  It was a mistake and a personal tragedy.  If you have that little empathy for a man in a wheelchair who, for whatever reason, was unable to succeed in marriage, you have become deranged by your own hatreds.

I’d suggest you not patronize him (or other wheelchair users) by acting like his being in a wheelchair makes marriage harder for him or makes him especially deserving of sympathy.

 I'd suggest that we take a rational human His approach in acknowledging that come out while perhaps his condition doesn't deserve "sympathy" it acknowledges being well, acknowledged, And unquestionably makes marriage more difficult In general

Speaking as someone two years older than Cawthorn who worked in DC, I know literally zero people there my age or younger who are married and work in anything government or government-adjacent. It's just not a thing to be in the DC policy sphere and get married in your 20s. Unfortunately for Cawthorn, he found this out the hard way.

To be fair, elected members of Congress are not really included in the "DC policy sphere."  The young Capitol Hill gunners, zealous journos and wannabe policy wonks exist in service to elected politicians, not among them. 

As far as I can tell, Cawthorn and Bayardelle met and were married in North Carolina.  She's a competitive CrossFit athlete.  It doesn't appear like politics was ever a big part of their relationship (i.e., it was a normal marriage, lol)     

Relatively few DC people get married in their 20s because the dating scene is similar to other big, East Coast cities:  young people engaging in unhealthy happy hour/hookup culture.  D.C. is probably even a bit worse in this regard for how young/transient it is, even compared to New York, Philly or Boston.

If they're going to be liberal on this issue then, in my opinion, they need to be liberal on all other social issues and not just the self-serving ones. If Jesus Christ can be mistaken on divorce then the Apostle Paul and the other authors of the epistles can be mistaken on homosexuality.

Nothing about a person radically changes in only eight months. They're still the same person you married and if you have a problem with them after eight months, it's because you weren't thinking clearly and using good judgment in deciding to marry them in the first place.

He told the Daily Caller that they met in St Petersburg, Russia.

Bayardelle and Cawthorn were introduced by a mutual friend at a gym in Miami. But as Cawthorn explained in a June 2020 interview with The Daily Caller, which can be viewed in its entirety here, they would not have met had it not been for a trip he took to a Russian casino.

Cawthorn explained that he and his friends took a trip to Norway and Sweden shortly before he was supposed to undergo extensive back surgery. He said that one day during the trip, the group decided to take a boat ride to St. Petersburg, which is located on the Baltic Sea, and visit a casino there.
