Trump among others charged in Georgia election probe
In an unprecedented move the Fulton county District attorneys office charged former President Trump and a slate of "fake" electors among others with conspiracy to commit election interference/making false statements, improper influence on government officials, and forging documents. Today concluded a nearly yearly long investigation by Fulton County into former President Trump and associates into his actions following the 2020 election. Trump among others who have maintained their innocence were released on bail today. A trial date has not formally been set but is likely not to happen until the fall of 2023 or Spring of 2024.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was not available to comment on the indictments only stating that he trusts the legal process. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced today that the House would investigate whether the Fulton County DA office acted improperly in there investigation and if the charges were politically motivating.
