That doesn't preclude someone from being casually anti-Semitic anymore than voting for Obama precludes someone from being racist. No one except probably a good chunk of those blue wave emoji types seriously believes Trump is a full fledged Holocaust denier blood and soil type but he clearly takes some anti-Semitic tropes seriously, see for example when he referred to Netanyahu as "your Prime Minister" when speaking at an event with a heavily Jewish audience. This quote kind of falls into the same sort of thought.

That said though yeah this is really not worse than other things he's said and has more to do with him being upset that Jews didn't vote for him despite all his Israel lip service. I doubt Trump has any real deeply held beliefs beyond what's good for himself.

Apparently he also said in the interview that Jews used to control Congress and trotted out the “Jews control the media” trope.  Those bits were unambiguously anti-Semitic; my initial post was just referring to his claim that Jewish-Americans don’t care about Israel as much as evangelicals do.

Saying that most Jews should be firstmost loyal to Israel might be anti-Semitic but it's a trope commonly used by "normal" Republicans too. I remember before 2012 when the Obama Administration made a few minor criticisms of the actions of the Netanyahu government and some Fox News pundits and some blue avatars here started speculating about if this was going to DEVESTATE Obama and Democrats amongst Jewish voters in 2012. And then Republicans wonder why most Jews don't vote for them.

Yeah, that definitely happens sometimes, but I think more often there's just an ingrained belief among right wing Christians that brown people and Muslims should not be in control of their holy sites - even though Jesus looked a lot more like a Palestinian Arab than an Ashkenazi - therefore it's completely morally justified to destroy Arab neighborhoods to excavate for evidence David existed.
