Democratic Ticket
Senator Barack Obama (Illinois)
Governor Mark Warner (Virginia)

v.

Republican Ticket
Senator John McCain (Arizonia)
Governor Mitt Romney (Massachusetts)

I think, at this point, that this race is quite a possibility. It would also be the first time that that a senator was elected President since 1960, despite who wins.

I think this election would be quite close, what are your thoughts?

Under a charismatic candidate such as Obama, Warner is able to bring his home state into the Democratic column. With Virginia voting Democrat, Obama wins the election by a 272-266 margin.

Closest states are New Mexico (To McCain by .60%), Iowa (to Obama by .80%), Colorado (to McCain by 1%), Ohio (to McCain by 1%), Wisconsin (to Obama by 1%) New Hampshire (to Obama by 1.5%), and Virginia (to Obama by 2%)

Over the course of the election, Obama is exposed as the liberal he is and loses the middle ground to McCain. Also, I highly doubt Obama would beat McCain in the independent camp.

314-224 McCain wins.

Obama has far too little experience and of the wrong type to be seeking the Presidency in 2008.  He might be workable as a VP, but I can't see where he would add that much to much any potential candidate's campaign compared to a swing seat governor or senator and there would be a serious risk of him outshining the candidate.  By 2012 or 2016 Obama might have the experience needd to seek the Presidency, but not in 2008.
