Any teacher that needs to utilize these concepts in order to teach is unfit to be in a classroom and should be removed anyway, so this is a great start.  We need to purge the evil from our classrooms.

How is social-emotional learning "evil?"

Any teacher of history or social studies who teaches concepts like “multiculturalism” or “hegemony” is unfit? Are you sure about that? Are you sure that’s the bill you want to die on?

Somehow children should only learn COLD HARD FACTS, MATH, SCIENCE, and not learn how to be nice at all.

To hell, with kids's socio emotional development, we need SKILLED WORKERS for the companies.

Don't quote me.

Republicans want mindless robotic workers for their companies, to serve the national interest.

You can't do basic civil rights history without some of these words.

And that's precisely the point Behind this measure.

Conservatives like these would never admit it, least of all to themselves, but they'd be perfectly happy with a civil rights history "curriculum" that boiled down to simply" slavery was bad, Jim Crow was bad, then Martin Luther king came along and convinced white people to change, and things have been more or less OK since the mid sixties."

History education was fine the way it was taught in 2011 .

Was it though?

We are taught our nation was the greatest defender of freedom the world has ever seen , our founders were heroes , and yes we were taught the dark parts of our history like slavery and Jim Crow but we explained that we were still better than the rest of the world at the time .

Ok then should biology teachers be able to teach that creationism is real. There is a difference between being unable to post something on social media vs not being able to teach something to students as facts.

1) Sociology is not science.
2) There’s a time and place for creationism to be taught. Writing/Grammar class or Social Studies class.

1. Thanks for admitting that which is why we actually have to be more vigilant about social studies since it’s easier to Teach propaganda in that

2. No it should only be taught in a theology elective class

Some of the words should be banned from the English language because of their tendentious imprecision, but banning a word like equity from a legal classroom would be interesting since it pervades the case law and legal text books and civil procedure and the right to a jury or not, etc., etc., etc.

Good news, we are not limited to a binary choice between anti-American propaganda and pro-American propaganda. We can, in fact, teach the truth!

This is what I'm talking about.

The Founding Fathers shouldn't be treated like deities who are above criticism. They were men, and like many men they did great things and terrible things. Teaching that they owned slaves and acknowledging how morally repugnant that was is not "demonization".

The Founding Fathers built a foundation for this country that has withstood the test of time and inspired us to maintain our democracy throughout the ages.
They deserve reverence. They helped create and maintain American democracy, both due to their efforts as living individuals, and due to them serving as inspirations to later men.

If Thomas Jefferson came back to life , he would welcome the criticism. The founding fathers knew that Just because something worked then, doesn’t mean it could be improved now.

They deserve respect. But they don’t deserve adoration like Gods.

You can revere someone or a group of people without thinking of them as literally perfect. None of our Founding Fathers were perfect people. The reverence does not come from them allegedly being "perfect" in any case. It comes from them helping incubate a culture of democracy, liberty, and relative stability in this country.
And their inspiration has already been improved on in numerous ways. And because we are all imperfect human beings, there will always be something to improve on.
The men who founded this nation and brought it into existence would agree with that, yes.

I don't know of anyone who treats the founders like deities. I do know of many people, however, who believe they were morally corrupt racist aristocrats beyond redemption.

For the people that scream and whine about political correctness because people can't be forced against their will to say Merry Christmas, or because one is inconvenienced by a TV show that doesn't have a 100% white male cast, having a list of proposed word banning is what ACTUAL political correctness looks like.

Public education is a public concern and it's a perfectly legitimate area for public regulation. It can't be equated to whatever fashionable nonsense of the day is going on with TV celebrities.

Republicans and those who sympathize with them don't find racism and the structural impacts we feel to this very day offensive. What they find offensive is pointing it out, studying it, and god forbid addressing it. That's what all this CRT hysteria has always been about, that and huge heaping of anti-semitism.

OSR knows that "critical race theory" is a grad school topic and that it isn't taught in elementary schools. He knows it's a lie to label any mention of race in any way that makes white conservatives as CRT, he just doesn't care because he thinks it will help his party win next November. Sadly, he may be right about that since his whole party has no qualms about going "all in" on blatant, violent lies these days.
