What is your opinion of the late Senator and 1996 Republican Presidential nominee, Bob Dole?

FF. He could be cranky sometimes, but Bob Dole was a national hero both in and out of battle. Beyond serving our country at war, his advocacy of food stamps and disability rights led to real positive change for millions. He also made us Kansans proud.

One of the better GOP nominees of the past half century. He did work with McGovern to make food stamps more available to the poor. However, that's really more an indictment of what the Republican Party has become in the past 25 years than it is an endorsement of Dole.

Massive FF, it's sad to see members of the Greatest Generation slowly fade into history.

Probably the least bad Republican nominee of the past 60 years at least, but that's more of an indictment of the rest of them. My opinion of him probably benefits from him never being president, of course. Ultimately, he was a contemporary Republican politician, so the bad is going to far outweigh the good, but that he had any redeeming qualities at all would make him stand out today
