Today the Conservative caucus has announced it was expelling Garth Turner of Halton. The reason: he has been using his
blog to voice the concerns of his constituents (e.g. writing that at a town hal meating someone called Harper a Bush clone), and for leaking party secrets. He had been given warnings to shut up, but he didn't. The straw that broke the camel's back came yesterday, when he posted
another entry criticizing the government's environmental plan and supporting the Green party. It seems kind of wierd that on the campaign trail not so long ago Harper called Liberal MPs mouthpieces of Martin.
In other news, a recent poll by the Strategic Council says that if a federal election were held today, the Conservatives and the Liberals (who have no leader; the campaign for one is turning into a slow-motion train wreck as Ignatieff gets into hot water again and again) will both get 32%, the NDP 17%, the Bloc 11% (nationwide), and the Greens 9%. This has been a sharp change from this spring, when they were talking about a Tory majority.
